Awesome 1994 Hummer Hard Top Truck. Super rare in this configuration only 32 built. The 4 Door hard-top body style is the most secure and structurally sound configuration. All options including wench, central air inflation system and hitch. Has custom interior with leather, nav, TVs, and Sub. 51,000 miles 6.5L Turbo Diesel. $58,000 OBO. Runs perfect, no issues. Extreme Coatings spray in bed liner, like new tires, block heater, built in dual battery charger (just plug H1 into wall while storing). Two brand new batteries, alarm system with remote start, CB with antenna, front and rear brush guards. Front and rear cameras, XM radio, Bluetooth, USB connectivity with remote.
There were many changes for Hummer in 1994. The drivetrain changes were probably the most significant. While the '92 and '93 models had a 6.2L engine and 3 speed transmission, the '94 version came standard with a 6.5L engine with an additional 20 hp and 40 lb ft of torque and a 4 speed transmission. The 4 speed transmission allowed the Hummer to cruise at much lower RPM reducing the noise level at highway speed considerably. Top speed went from about 73 mph to 83 mph. Also new for '94 was the availability of luxury features such as power windows, power door locks, power mirrors and cruise control. Approximately 718 H1s were produced for the '94 model year. New serpentine belt system. 4 Speed Electronic transmission allows for higher top speed and quieter operation. New shift control. Battery moved from under passenger seat to under hood. Allows for passenger seat adjustment. Larger diameter halfshafts for increased strength and durability. Fresh air intake for cabin raised. "B" beam behind front seats removed. Allows for increased front seat travel and improved rear leg room. Deluxe cloth interior option. Gray interior option added mid-year. 47 1994s were built with the Gray Interior. New Electronic control for HVAC system. Auxiliary rear air and heat option. Combination 1-piece runflat/beadlock easier to work with and balance. Added catalyst and repositioned muffler to behind rear bumper. New HVAC system uses R134 refrigerant. Wagon cargo area bulkhead now removeable. Power door locks standard. Optional power mirrors, cruise control, and power windows with remote keyless entry. Beginning with VIN RE154101 audio change from JVC to Clarion. Windshield wiper change. Running change, lift for easier windshield cleaning. New electric speedometer. GSA "Highway Touring Tire" option. New fuel tank design. Moved P/S reservoir. Moved rear transmission mount. New prop shafts. New radiator. New tinted glass. New glove box with cup holders. New model XLC2 2-Passenger Enlarged Cab introduced 7/13/94. Full Door option available for Open Top introduced mid year. The Full door featured glass windows in place of the standard plastic zippered windows. 30 Open Tops were ordered with the $800 Full Door Option in 1994. For '95, the Full Door Open Top became separate model HMCO. White and Black Tops available for first time on Open Top Models. 11 Black, 96 Tan and 5 White topped Open Tops were built in 1994. Tonneau cover on 4-Passenger Hard Top models. Beginning with VIN RE152724 The Remote keyless entry will activate the inside dome light when unlocked. Beginning with VIN RE152517 a mechanical tilt feature is added to the driver's seat with the deluxe cloth interior option. Beginning with VIN RE152517 a front passenger left arm rest has been added with the deluxe cloth interior option. Beginning with VIN RE154189 Driver and Front Passenger grab handles are standard on all Open Tops. Beginning with VIN RE152528 the Central Tire Inflation System also included an auxiliary inflation kit, including hose. Beginning with VIN RE155076 The dome light and the map lights were separated. The map lights were relocated outboard the driver and passenger. |

AM General to offer civilian Humvee kit car
Thu, 02 Aug 2012For anyone feeling nostalgic about the passing of the Hummer brand, or the actual wartime vehicle that inspired it, now is your chance to own a version of the original HMMWV, albeit without an engine.
After a 12-year hiatus from the civilian vehicle market, AM General is reportedly set to offer a kit-car of the C-Series Humvee. The kit will conform to U.S. government regulations and has been made possible by a deal with General Motors.
The kit costs $59,000 - and you still need an engine. A likely favorite would be a Duramax Diesel V8 and Allison transmission combination, as was found on the H1 Alpha. AM General estimates that an owner could buy the kit Humvee and outfit a powerplant and transmission for $75,000. Not bad, considering that H1 Alpha has an MSRP of $140,000 in 2005.

When the internal combustion engine finally helped the automobile pass the horse-drawn carriage as the chosen method of transportation for a majority of citizens in the United States, that a step in the right direction. Right? Moving forward about a hundred years... when the behemoth Sport Utility Vehicle that never actually seems to venture off the beaten path passed the minivan in the hearts and minds of families across the country as the people-mover of choice, was that a step in the right direction?

The 2008 Hummer HX concept was supposed to be General Motors' answer to the Jeep Wrangler. To put it mildly, that failed to materialize. General Motors killed Hummer as part of its bankruptcy-induced limb severing in 2009, before the HX could be brought to fruition as the H4, as had been rumored.
For those of you who wish the HX had indeed surfaced, we have some excellent news: My Electric Vehicle, or MEV, has appropriated the HX concept, added an electric drivetrain and created the MEV Hummer HX. The MEV HX is a fully electric golf cart resort vehicle, licensed by GM and sporting Hummer wheels and skid plates.
