The Good: Ap2 S2000, 104xxx(miles will go up as is daily driven) miles
majority of which are highway miles, RARE Grand Prix White (not many out
there these days). Fresh oil change (done at 103500), plenty of tread
life left on tires. Heat and A/C work great, clean interior, am/fm/cd
player, all working and in good condition speakers, no chips in any
windows or windshield, defrost works on both front dash and back glass,
decent trunk space, HID headlights, aftermarket AEM V2 cold air intake
(sounds beautiful), Skunk2 lowering springs (lowered about 1 1/2-2
inches from stock height, however is not too low to drive easily), all
factory body panels, stock Ap2 wheels, Engine well cared for and up to
date on maintenance, gets roughly 300 miles to a tank (12 gallon tank,
averages to about 28+ mpg) strong VTEC kicks in at 6200 rpm, roughly
260hp to wheels, redlines at 8000 rpm, anti lock brakes, windscreen,
spoilerless trunk, 3 person owned, has all the original maintenance
recipes from first owner, second two owners mechanically inclined and
took really good care of the car.
The bad: Has traditional wear of driver side seat bolster (visible in almost all S2000's to date), 4 Pressure rips in top (currently sealed so no weather can get in to cockpit) can be patched easily with right material and adhesive, Driver side door had a dent, accrued from a "hit and run" estimated repair of 750$ however, new door panel and paint would be alot cheaper as new door panel should only run about 200$. New death linked to Takata airbag crisis, Honda recalls 170k vehicles overseas
Sat, 15 Nov 2014The safety crisis surrounding Takata's exploding airbags continues to expand. In the latest revelation, Honda confirms another death linked to the faulty parts, and the company is expanding its recall of the components. However, none of the newly added vehicles are in the United States.
With the confirmation of this report, there are now five deaths linked to the faulty airbags. According to The New York Times, a pregnant woman in Malaysia was killed on July 27 in a 2003 Honda City when she crashed into another vehicle, and the inflator ruptured. This was the first announced case outside of the US.
The faulty part in the woman's car was reportedly made at a now-closed Takata factory in Georgia, according to the NYT, and it's the first known example from that location. In response, Honda recalled about 170,000 vehicles in Europe and Asia to replace the potentially bad inflators. The latest campaign brings the total number of recalled vehicles worldwide to around 14.3 million units.
Wagon Attack's crappy Civic Wagon meets its end in Iceland
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Several years ago, we posted a video on a dumpy, all-wheel-drive, turbocharged Honda Civic Wagon that starred in a film called Wagon Attack II. The video showed the rusty, red five-door tackling terrain that no Civic has any business driving on, and doing it with flair and style.
Now, the team that produced the original video are back, with Wagon Attack III. The latest video is packed full of goodness for wagon lovers of any stripe. Where the last video saw the turbocharged wagon in Michigan, though, this time it's been shipped to Iceland, where it's flung about on the beaches and dirt roads of the volcanic island.
The video has a bit of a sad ending, though. You'll need to watch it and see what we mean. We've got the entire video down below. Take a look.
Honda previews next-gen JDM Odyssey minivan
Mon, 30 Sep 2013Some automakers market the same cars around the world, while others offer different models - even under the same nameplate - for different markets. We're thinking of cars like the Volkswagen Passat or the previous Mazda6. Honda's been known to do so as well, with models like the Accord and Odyssey, which are completely different in North America than they are in other parts of the world.
Now Honda has provided the first glimpse at the Odyssey minivan it offers for the Japanese Domestic Market (as well as Europe and other parts of the world). Though more compact than the US-market version, the new overseas Odyssey appears larger than the model it replaces, with a taller roofline increasing interior space.
Though Honda hasn't released the model's full specifications, power is expected to come from a 2.4-liter inline-four mated to a continuously variable transmission. Beyond that, buyers will likely be able to choose between front- and all-wheel drive, two cabin layouts, two interior colors and seven or more exterior paints. The images also point towards blind-spot and auto-braking systems and an apparent eco mode. Although unconfirmed, we expect to see the new JDM Odyssey make its debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show.
