Offered for sale is an absolutely striking, last-of-its-kind, virtually impossible to find example of one of the purest sports roadsters ever produced: the 2009 Honda S2000. One of only 355 produced, and one of only six (!) finished in amazing Rio Yellow, this car is completely stock and unmolested, retaining a Honda Certified warranty all the way through August 2016.

A two owner car, it was purchased from our local Honda dealership a little over a year ago by one of our best clients, a passionate collector whose interests are eclectic, but with one consistent through-line: exceptional engineering. It's only being sold to make way for a new Aston Martin, but he's certainly not short on misgivings. It took him and his salesperson nearly six months to search for this car and, as anyone who's been looking in the market can attest, original, low mileage 2009 S2000s aren't getting any easier to find. He only put a couple thousand miles on the car during his ownership and has ensured that the car's always been appropriately serviced by the dealership, as it was with its first owner. A responsible enthusiast, the car has never been tracked and the only thing distinguishing it from new off the showroom floor is the virtually negligible wear sustained during it's well-cared-for two owner history, evidenced (hardly) in the pictures.

If you're looking for an S2000, then you know how amazing they are on the road. If not, I'll defer to part of Autoblog's review of what is truly a purist's sports car:

"While comfortable around town, it's once you're clear of traffic that the real fun begins. At 6,000 RPM – where most engines run out of steam – the VTEC kicks the valve actuation into high power mode and the electronic tach makes a mad dash for the 8,000 RPM redline. It's a magnificent rush few vehicles can deliver. Even more compelling than the revverrific four are the chassis and mechanicals to which it's fitted. With double wishbones and 17-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE050 summer rubber at all four corners, the S2000's composure and engagement remains unmatched. When the road turns twisty, the chassis rotates just a point ahead of your hips and when you've finally reached the limits of adhesion, the back end steps out smoothly and progressively. All you need to do is keep your foot planted and dial in a few degrees of correction through the perfectly weighted steering wheel."

This is a special car that doesn't become available very often. Rare, final year, low miles, unique color, completely original, Honda Certified warranty through 2016 and in exceptional condition. Please bid accordingly.

We want this car to go to a great home, so please feel free to email me or give us a call at (805) 202-4557 if you have any additional questions. You can also visit us online at goodmanreed.

GOODMAN REED MOTORCARS

While I have a California dealer license, I’m not your typical dealer. I’ve always had an appreciation for classic and sports cars and have always bought and sold them to create a small revolving personal collection which has afforded me the opportunity of meeting many other interesting enthusiasts, including the owner of this S2000. As such, this is a consignment car and can be seen by appointment at my warehouse in Santa Barbara. I try to give accurate descriptions of the cars I’m selling, but I’m not an expert and I encourage and am happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms my ability to make sales with other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.

For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction's end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction's end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however I'd be more than happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction's end. Thanks for your interest.

Why Honda of America won't fit 2014 Fit models with start/stop

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

One of the most recent yet notable additions to the modern vehicle's growing suite of fuel-saving technologies is the humble start-stop system. It's rather simple - when the vehicle is stopped, the engine shuts off. It then fires back up when the driver starts to take his foot off the brake or step on the clutch. For one of the most important fuel sippers of the year, though, start-stop tech is a no-go.
Honda will not be offering the system on the North American-spec, non-hybrid Fit despite it being a standard item on both the hybrid (pictured above) and gas-only Japanese domestic models. According to Honda, it's ostensibly due to the momentary lag, that occurs when the gas engine re-fires and power is available. The start-stop-equipped Fits "will lose at stoplights to V6s," Nobuhiko Shishido, the lead powertrain engineer for the Fit, told Automotive News. This is just an observation on our part, but unless the new Fit turns up with dramatically more than the current car's 117 horsepower, it'll "lose at stoplights" regardless of whatever fuel-saving features are fitted.
The other issue Honda sees is more realistic. In the world of the EPA, stop-start systems are not taken into account in fuel economy testing. That makes the cost-adding technology a tough sell for US consumers who are forced to take a dealer's word on real-world economy gains over the milage numbers on the window sticker. That said, wouldn't it at least make sense to offer start-stop as an option? Have your say in the Comments below.

Honda Builds The Crossover Of Bikes
Here in the land of Harleys and highways that stretch to infinity, Americans don't care much for sensible motorcycles. Unlike the majority of global bike buyers, North Americans tend to choose escape over utility, performance over practicality - that's simply how it's been done in the land of the free, at least until a funny thing happened on the way to the global recession.
As bank balances thinned and fuel prices crept skyward, sales of puffed up sportbikes and cartoonishly endowed cruisers plummeted. Americans rediscovered that motorcycles could be used for tasks like workaday commutes and trips to the grocery store, not just for riding into a Marlboro Man-approved sunset, fringe in tow. As consumers matured, manufacturers slowly responded with bikes better suited for purposeful priorities.

Honda execs take 'quality-related' pay cut after Fit Hybrid's 5th recall

Thu, 23 Oct 2014

Generally, the best policy in life is to admit when you're wrong and just accept the consequences. However, that attitude generally seems to be a bit less common in the world of business - at least without some government or legal prodding. So, it's especially surprising to learn that top Honda executives in Japan are taking a pay cut for the next three months following the fifth recall of the Fit Hybrid (pictured above) in the last 12 months.
According to Reuters, Chief Executive Takanobu Ito is taking a 20-percent pay cut to make amends for the quality issues. Also, 12 other high-ranking executives are taking 10 percent drops in their salaries. In addition to those temporary changes, Honda is creating a new position in charge of monitoring vehicle quality.
The latest recall fixes "noise-related defects," according to Reuters, on both the hybrid and naturally aspirated versions of the Fit, both variants of the Vezel (the sibling to the future HR-V in the US) and the N-WGN. There have also been three recalls for problems with the hybrid's seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. None of them have caused reported injuries or deaths, and these issues haven't affected US models.
