1991 Honda Prelude Si, 5 Speed. Restored. on 2040-cars
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States
This is the nicest 1991 Honda Prelude Si anywhere.
This car has new brakes, rotars, calipers pads, battery, radiator, hoses, original engine professionally tuned and mechanically restored to factory specs. Never molested. Just rebuilt with better parts. I had 3 very nice sets of keys made for the car as well. Title clean and in hand. Total blast to drive, this was the car that beat the 1991 corvette around the slalom. It carves corners. With the rebuild it has significantly more power because of higher quality components. I bought this car a few years ago to restore, it may sound crazy but a 1987 Honda Prelude was my first car so it was a sentimental restoration for me. This car had been garage kept it's entire life, it just needed a little TLC. I had the engine pulled out and sent to a very reputable Honda specialist, the block was tanked, blasted and repainted, all new internals, rotating assembly, belts, hoses, radiator. The transmission was in perfect condition. The mechanical restoration set me back $4,200 and I had the exterior of the car professionally painted by a nationally ranked paint specialist. There were a couple rust spots that were cut out of a quarter section and new metal was welded in. That was a $4,500 paint job. I went with the Lexus Diamond white tricoat which is the very expensive paint. I have about $10,000 invested in the car over the last year and I just don't have time for it anymore. It runs great, new battery with 3 year warranty, fresh paint and maintenance. It's almost an antique vehicle and rare find for Prelude enthusiasts. The car has never been modified, only restored to original specifications. It has the original radio but it doesn't work, the A/C needs to be recharged but it blows, just not cold. Heat works fine. The speedometer doesn't work or works intermittently and the resistor that is needed no longer exists, I have searched everywhere. It has some some minor wear in the interior, but the car is actually in pretty good shape. Mechanically it's like a band new car, but it's not perfect. I am selling this vehicle locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Vehicle as is, no warranty. Buyer assumes all responsibility and arranges delivery and or shipping of vehicle. Serious questions inquires only. This is a steal if your not looking to put any money into a classic collectable Honda, all the work has been done and done right. All you have to do is charge the A/C and put whatever sound system you want in it and it's ready to go. |

Honda recalling 748k Odyssey and Pilot models over airbag concern
Fri, 18 Jan 2013American Honda today announced a recall of approximately 748,000 Odyssey and Pilot models due to faulty airbag concerns. The vehicles in question are Odyssey minivans from the 2011 to 2013 model years and Pilot crossovers from the 2009 to 2013 model years.
According to a statement from Honda, driver's side airbags in the affected vehicles were potentially assembled without some of the rivets that secure the bag's plastic cover. Because of this, the airbag may not deploy properly in the event of a crash, leading to further occupant injury. As of this writing, no injuries have been reported in conjunction with this issue.
Honda will begin officially notifying owners via mail in mid-February. The automaker urges customers to take their vehicles to an authorized dealership, where vehicles will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired. In lieu of waiting for the snail mail approach, owners may also visit www.recalls.honda.com or can contact the automaker directly at 1.800.999.1009 and select option four.
Honda reveals new Civic hatch for WTCC
Tue, 03 Dec 2013If you thought the Honda Civic Type R prototype we drove in Japan looked cool, and that the Civic Tourer that Honda will race in the British Touring Car Championship next year looks even cooler, just take a look at this.
Possibly the ultimate race-spec Civic, this is the car Honda will field next year in the World Touring Car Championship. Like the Type R prototype (but unlike the BTCC-spec wagon) the WTCC challenger takes the form of Honda's latest Euro-spec Civic five-door hatchback.
It's the car with which Honda intends to defend its title and capture the driver's title in next year's championship. It'll face a tough challenge from the new Citroën team headlined by Sebastien Loeb in the new C-Elysee, not to mention the rest of the grid. Fortunately, Honda is entering a whole mess of these Civics in the series, with former champion Gabriele Tarquini and former F1 driver Tiago Monteiro driving the works entries (hence the mixed "Gabriago" tag on the window) and another pair to be entered by privateer teams.
New death linked to Takata airbag crisis, Honda recalls 170k vehicles overseas
Sat, 15 Nov 2014The safety crisis surrounding Takata's exploding airbags continues to expand. In the latest revelation, Honda confirms another death linked to the faulty parts, and the company is expanding its recall of the components. However, none of the newly added vehicles are in the United States.
With the confirmation of this report, there are now five deaths linked to the faulty airbags. According to The New York Times, a pregnant woman in Malaysia was killed on July 27 in a 2003 Honda City when she crashed into another vehicle, and the inflator ruptured. This was the first announced case outside of the US.
The faulty part in the woman's car was reportedly made at a now-closed Takata factory in Georgia, according to the NYT, and it's the first known example from that location. In response, Honda recalled about 170,000 vehicles in Europe and Asia to replace the potentially bad inflators. The latest campaign brings the total number of recalled vehicles worldwide to around 14.3 million units.
