2008 Honda Pilot Ex Sport Utility 4-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Chester, Maryland, United States
This vehicle was donated to the National Hopeline Network to promote the cause of suicide prevention. We can no longer maintain the vehicle and need the funds to keep our hotlines going. We have been to over 100 college campuses with a message of help and hope and on two nationwide tours that reached hundreds of thousands of people. While the vehicle is in still good shape our desire is that is keep going and the buyer be someone who cares about preventing suicide. Never has this vehicle gone out in public without folks walking up to it asking for help for themselves or a loved one. It is amazing. I can also say after 90,0000 plus miles I have never gotten a speeding ticket or a parking ticket. The stories I have from the folks who walk up to me or the policemen could fill a book. In Upstate NY on my way to a an event with 100+m colleges I was going very fast and pulled over by a State Trooper who took my license and let me go and later two detectives arrived at my booth with my license and an apology. If it had not been for this car and the cause hmmm you can do the math. We hate to part with it but need to and hope the buyer cares about preventing suicide and will keep the wrap on.

Is today's Honda Accord cheaper than it was back in 1989?
Wed, 24 Sep 2014Whether you're shopping at the grocery story or on a car lot, everything seems to be getting more expensive these days. However, when all the factors are considered, that might be more an issue of perception than of fact. The American Public Media radio show Marketplace recently tackled the question whether modern vehicles were actually more expensive once you factored in important variables like inflation and cost of ownership. The result was pretty surprising.
For its example, Marketplace chose the Honda Accord, because in August, it was one of the bestselling vehicles in the US, with 51,075 of them sold. Winding back the clock 25 years to 1989, Honda's cheapest Accord cost $11,770, and that money bought you a stripped-out car with 98 horsepower, a manual gearbox, no air conditioning and hand-crank windows.
Fast-forward to present day, and a basic Accord starts at around $22,000 and gives buyers significantly more features, including a 185-hp engine, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, cruise control, more space, refinement and much better safety. By Marketplace's math, when just figuring for inflation, that modern Honda would cost about $11,500 a quarter century ago, despite all of that extra equipment. But that's just one factor. Scroll down to listen to the full report for an explanation of how cost of ownership figures into the mix, and whether it throws all of the calculations off.
Honda CR-V updated for 2015
Mon, 22 Sep 2014The CR-V was first introduced way back in the mid-90s, but Honda has done a good job of keeping it fresh. Now four generations in, the CR-V has been replaced every four or five years. And though the latest version just arrived on the scene a couple of years ago, Honda's giving it a refresh for the 2015 model year.
We've already spied these changes, but now, the Japanese automaker has officially released the image you see above, showing the updated 2015 CR-V with some cosmetic enhancements. The chrome bar at the bottom of the grille integrates smartly with the LEDs outlining the projector-beam headlights, capping a reshaped front bumper with new fog lamps.
Of course, the wheels and mirror caps have been redone as well, but we'll have to wait until Honda releases the full monte to see what the new CR-V looks like around back, inside and under the hood. All Honda is confirming at the moment is that the revised styling "portends the significant enhancements made to the 2015 CR-V" and that it will release further information on September 30 before the updated model goes on sale October 1, so watch this space for more.
Honda shines the spotlight on Project Drive-In success
Tue, 24 Sep 2013Project Drive-In, a Honda-sponsored campaign to save drive-in theaters across the country, is beginning to bear fruit, as the first theaters have been informed that they'll be getting free digital projectors. Many theaters still use 35-millimeter film, which is being phased out rather aggressively in the movie industry. The move to digital, meanwhile, requires nearly a six-figure investment, forcing many drive-ins to close up shop for good.
The first phase of the campaign saw the public vote for their favorite drive-in, with the top five getting a free digital projector, courtesy of Honda. There's some touching reaction videos of the owners being informed that they'd won down below. The next phase in the program takes place on Indiegogo, where Project Drive-In is trying to raise $100,000 for the drive-in that's gotten the next highest number of votes. If the Indiegogo campaign reaches that figure before its expiration on October 7, it'll make the donation and reset the meter to save another theater.
Take a look down below for the video from Honda on Project Drive-In, and then do yourselves a favor, and head over to the Project Drive-In Indiegogo campaign, and make a donation.
