2006 Honda Odyssey Touring Mini Passenger Van 4-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
This has been our family van since 2006 and will be a source of real enjoyment for you for years to come. We have done all of the recommended maintenance (mostly at the dealership) and changed the oil regularly. We recently replaced the front axle and struts so it rides great. This is the Touring model and we maxed out the features so it has everything: DVD with wireless headsets, NAV, dual AC (not just dual controls, it actually has two compressors so the back is always cold!), leather seats and leather steering wheel, satellite radio (rare in 2006), 2nd row captains chairs with a center console (huge advantage for the riders in the second row on long trips or if they have a lot of stuff). The console can be removed and the seats slide together if you want extra storage or a walkway on the side. The third row folds down into a well behind them. If you are not familiar with the Honda Odyssey and the rear storage, it is cavernous! This is our second Honda Odyssey and we could not be happier with the performance of either van. Our kids are older (finally) so we don't need as much room anymore. We also replaced the stock speakers with mid-level Alpine speakers and put sound deadening material in all of the doors. No, it will not break the windows but it sounds a lot better than the stock speakers and the sound deadening material really helps with road noise. All in all, this is a great van and you will enjoy it as much as we have. |

Honda accused of not reporting all airbag problems
Fri, 17 Oct 2014The Takata airbag recall that has afflicted a number of automakers may have just taken a very bad turn for Honda, which has already recalled over one million vehicles. Clarence Ditlow and the Center for Auto Safety have accused the Japanese manufacturer of failing to report two "injury-and-death" incidents. To determine just what happened, the company has initiated a third-party audit.
According to Bloomberg, CAS claims Honda failed to report fatalities in 2009 and 2013, a point Honda doesn't seem to contest, indicating that it didn't report so-called "verbal claims."
"It is our understanding that some manufacturers choose to include these types of verbal claims, and that these constitute the majority of the injury-and-death claims that they report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration," the company told Bloomberg via email. "We believe this practice accounts for the vast majority of the difference between the total number of injury-and-death claims reported by Honda compared to certain other manufacturers."
Honda Civic Tourer to debut at Frankfurt
Wed, 07 Aug 2013Honda will be bringing its new Civic Tourer to next month's Frankfurt Motor Show, just as we predicted in our spy shots of the new MPV from back in April. The new model, which will arrive in European dealers in 2014, will be built alongside Honda's Euro-spec Civic hatchback, Jazz (Honda Fit) and CR-V in Swindon, Wiltshire, UK.
Honda first hinted at the Civic Tourer with a concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, which is set to do battle with the Toyota Auris and Volkswagen Golf in the European market. The production Civic Tourer will also be shown alongside a refreshed Civic hatchback, yet another NSX Concept variant, a McLaren MP4/4 Formula One car, and Honda's World Touring Car Championship Civic.
Honda settles class-action lawsuit over oil-burning V6s
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Although we hadn't heard of this issue before, Automotive News reports that Honda has agreed to settle a massive class-action lawsuit brought against it for engine trouble potentially affecting nearly 1.6 million vehicles. The lawsuit includes Accord (2008-12), Odyssey (2008-13), Pilot (2009-13) and Crosstour (2010-13) models equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 with Variable Cylinder Management, which might experience engine misfire, excessive oil burning and premature spark plug fouling issues.
As part of the settlement, Honda will extend the powertrain warranty on these models for eight years (from time of purchase or lease) with no mileage limitation, and it will also reimburse customers who had to pay out-of-pocket expenses for related repairs such as spark plugs, pistons or, in some cases, apparently, an entirely new engine. (Of course, the repairs had to be related to certain trouble codes.) Lawyers will get no more than $800,000 from Honda and the guy who originally started the case, Vince Eagen, will get $1,000 for his "time and effort."
The final ruling on the matter will take place on March 21, 2014, and if you want to see if you're affected and what options you have in the settlement, check out this .pdf document with all the details.
