This extremely reliable cream puff was bought new for my wife. It has always been driven by mature adults with no accidents and has always been parked under a carport. Car rides and drives perfect and has brand new, extremely quiet, Hankook Ventus V2 tires with less than 1000 miles on them. Car tracks and stops perfectly straight - does not pull to either side. There are no strange noises of any kind, motor does not smoke or use any oil between changes. Everything works as it should except one tire pressure monitor sensor inside one of the wheels is not communicating with the system so the silly "TPMS" light stays illuminated on the dash (see photo). I took it to the Honda dealer and they told me it would take $200 to fix it. I told them NO THANKS and that I would just check my tire pressure the old-fashioned way!!!
The only flaws on the exterior are a few scuff marks just under the driver's headlight that I have touched-up (see photo) and a tiny crease on the bottom edge of the rear bumper (see photo). There is one tiny spot of curb rash on one wheel, the other three wheels are like new. The interior shows no signs of wear due to installing a professional, custom-made set of front seat covers and matching console armrest cover when car was new (see photo). I just received the title from American Honda Finance as we just made the last payment a couple of weeks ago. Car is for sale because wife now wants a new Chevy Camaro! Honda builds custom Civic Si based on Forza Motorsport design contest
Fri, 07 Feb 2014Forza Motorsport games are known for a few things, one of which is the extensive range of customization options available for each car. Gamers have complete control over the look and size of wheels, window tints, paints and decals, as well as various different finishes. For Forza Motorsport 5, players even have access to carbon fiber, gold, chrome, brass and camouflaged finishes.
To celebrate this, Honda held a little contest among gamers that challenged them to prepare a custom Civic Si. The winner would see their design applied to an actual car and shown at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. This is that car. Designed by Tiffany Labedz, it was one of 170 entries in the Forza Motorsport Civic Si Design Contest. It took the title, with 17,000 votes from members of the Forza community.
Take a look up top for our live gallery, and then down below for the press release and images of the car from the press conferences as well as in Forza Horizon.
Ariel to revive motorcycle business with debut at Goodwood
Sat, 07 Jun 2014If you're a parent, the name Ariel might conjure up one of the Disney princesses, but auto enthusiasts know it as a hardcore, boutique British sports car maker. Before being revived to make the skeletal Atom, the business was also a British motorcycle company best known for its four-cylinder bikes. Now, the modern iteration is looking to the past with plans to unveil its own cycle at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed from June 26-29.
Given Ariel's cars, you might expect an absolutely minimalist motorcycle weighing practically nothing. However, according to its boss speaking to Visor Down, there's no point in trying to build another racer; that market is sewn up. Instead, it's developing a performance cruiser with a more tailored design approach. Buyers can select a variety of different components to adapt the cycle to their style. It shouldn't be lacking for too much speed though; power comes from the 1,237cc V4 engine from the Honda VFR1200F with around 170 horsepower on tap, and it also offers the VFR's six-speed, dual-clutch gearbox as an option.
Ariel admitted that bike on display at Goodwood would just be a test mule and didn't say when the production version would be ready. It seems this idea has been a long time coming, though - we reported in 2011 that the company was working on a bespoke motorcycle with multiple design options around a Honda engine. Pricing at the time was rumored to sit around 20,000 pounds.
2016 Honda HR-V officially finds its fit in Los Angeles
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Honda's extended tease for the 2016 HR-V compact crossover is finally over. The CUV debuted in Japan late, last year, and the company has trotted various versions to shows around the world since then. The time has finally come for all of the details about the US version to be revealed at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show.
Honda has been keeping the HR-V's powertrain a closely guarded secret - until now. All of them get a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 138 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque with the choice of either a six-speed manual or CVT. Either front- or all-wheel drive is available, but the six-speed is only available on front-driving models.
Based on the same platform as the Fit, the HR-V actually doesn't seem to share much with its smaller sibling in terms of looks and instead borrows more cues from its big brother - the latest 2015 CR-V. Bits of Honda's larger crossover peek out in the grille and roof shape, but the HR-V reinterprets the design in its own funky way. Hiding the rear door handles near the rear pillar is an especially clever touch. The compact's wheelbase is 102.8 inches, just 0.3 inches shorter than its larger sibling. However, overall length for the new model is 169.1 inches, about 10 inches shorter than the CR-V.
