For
Sale: 1990 Honda CRX Si. One owner car purchased new in 1990 from a Honda Dealer
in NY. The car was immediately prepped for IMSA's Firestone Firehawk
Endurance Championship (FFEC) and was never registered or used on the street
until 2003. The car competed in the full 1991 FFEC season and part of the 1992
season. In 1991 it finished the 24 hours of Watkins Glenn and in 1992 in
finished 7th at Laguna Seca. This was the last time the car saw competition. In
august 1992 the car was stored in a heated garage until 1995 when
the car was moved to Phoenix AZ. Between 1995 and 2003 the CRX was slowly converted the
car back to a street car. Since 2003 it was used the car for occasion commuting and the
occasional track day . The car has 17,767 original miles. The sunroof is still intact and operates as normal with the factory electric
motor. The
bad points: There is an oil pressure gauge that is "T'ed" into the oil
pressure port. The gauge is connected with stainless braided lines from the
engine to the gauge. Both the idiot light and the oil pressure gauge work and
the engine produces a sold 80psi of oil pressure. The driver and passenger side taillights are damaged and cracked. The CV boots are leaking due to the car sitting for extended periods of times and there is a minor oil leak. I will include the the following BRAND NEW IN BOX Honda parts for this vehicle: All new moldings, the lower cladding, lower door caps, passenger side front fender, new quarter window seals, sunroof seal, A/C idler pulley, center radio trim bezel with storage pocket. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time. This car will probably sell before the auction is over. Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to own a low mileage CRX with a interesting history. When this car is properly re painted it will be worth a lot of money. |

Honda is first Japanese carmaker to be a net-exporter from US
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Over the last decade or so, many foreign automakers have challenged the idea of what defines an "American car," but Honda took things a step further last year by exporting more cars out of the US than it imported in. Reuters is reporting that in 2013, a total of 108,705 Honda and Acura models were exported from the US with only 88,357 being shipped in. This gives Honda a net exporter status here, and makes it the first of such among the major Japanese automakers.
Honda's US imports have been dropping over the last five years while its exports have been steadily increasing. In 2008, the report indicates that Honda shipped 187,000 vehicles to the US and exported only 20,000, and even by 2012 Honda still favored imports with 136,000 imports and 74,000 exports. The article says that US-made Honda and Acura vehicles were exported to 50 countries with most ending up in Mexico, but the big news is that the Honda's US production set a record in 2013 with 1.3 million units built.
2015 Honda CR-V
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Predicting the future direction of Honda's compact CR-V would have been difficult based on the Civic-derived model that first arrived on our shores for the 1997 model year. The newcomer, selling alongside the body-on-frame Passport (a hastily rebadged Isuzu Rodeo), was a cute compact crossover with four doors and an awkward curb-side hinged tailgate thanks to its Japanese home-market design. The five-passenger CUV offered generous interior room, but its wheezy 2.0-liter four-cylinder, with an output of just 126 horsepower and 133 pound-feet of torque, required 11.7 seconds to bring the 3,153-pound vehicle to 60 miles per hour. Rear drum brakes didn't help much in the stopping department, but Honda offered safety-minded consumers optional anti-lock brakes on the premium trim.
Nearly two decades after its introduction, the CR-V has matured in spectacular manner. The refreshed 2015 Honda CR-V, now in its fourth generation, is dimensionally within two inches of its ancestor in overall length and nearly identical in height and wheelbase. That consistency of dimension is impressive in this age of size and segment creep, and it stands as a testament to how 'right' Honda engineers got the model's original packaging. Of course, the CR-V hasn't stood still - nearly everything else about the best-selling compact CUV has improved in leaps and bounds.
But Honda is not the only player in this hotly contested segment today, so the automaker has taken the unusual step of updating its fourth-generation model just a few years after its introduction in an effort to keep it seated on the podium. To learn more about the automaker's improvements, and form our own impressions, we spent a day driving the CR-V in sunny Southern California.
Honda Insight finally, officially dead
Fri, 28 Feb 2014Earlier this week, we told you that the Honda Insight was scheduled to get the axe - something that had been rumored for a long time. Now, Honda has officially confirmed that the Insight is being put out of our its misery. That's right, America's most affordable mass-produced hybrid will officially die after the 2014 model year, with production scheduled to end this summer. Honda says that, moving forward, it will focus its efforts on expanding its newer two-motor hybrid system found in the Accord. Of course, this news doesn't exactly give us much hope for the CR-Z hatchback's longevity, either. Scroll down for the official release.
