2002 Honda Crv Ex Sport Utility 4d, Manual. Beautiful, Reliable Car! No Reserve on 2040-cars

This listing is for a 2002 Honda CR-V, EX Sport Utility, 4 Door that I bought used with 22K miles on it in 2004.

Since then I have been the only driver, maintained the car well (I have all records for you).  I am selling it only because I need a commuting car and will purchase a hybrid.  Otherwise the car continues to run well and I have been replacing parts as needed and caring for it well. Mechanics say that there's no reason that the car shouldn't get another 100K if cared for.

Kelley Blue Book suggests that in 'good' condition, it should be worth $5,500. We think it is even better than that.

Most recent improvements:
1. New front struts (due to winter potholes) March 2014
2. Rear brakes, Caliper, March 2013
3. All brakes, October 2012
4. New Catalytic Converter, February 2012
5. New Clutch, June 2011
6. Four new tires, October 2010
7. Battery, March 2010
8. Front brakes, November 2007.

Service on suggested maintenance timelines and oil change receipts from every 3,000 miles, etc.

A sweet, reliable 4wd car that has taken great care of us and undoubtedly has many, many more miles to go.

Inside is like new (a few stains on the carpet, but very small). Outside also in good shape, with exception of a ding on the driver's door I got (not knowing who did it) back in 2005 and never repaired (see photos).

Has been great especially in this wintery weather!

Please email me with any questions and I will try to get back to you within 24 hours.  Pick up or buyer arranged shipping only. We are in New York metropolitan area.

Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Nissan recall 3.4 million vehicles for faulty airbags

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

Most vehicle recalls that take place these days are a result of some problem that happens during the manufacturing process by the automaker, but as we see here, parts suppliers can also factor in to problematic safety issues. Automotive News is reporting that a total of 3.4 million vehicles produced by Japanese automakers between 2000 and 2004 are being recalled globally due to faulty airbags produced by an outside supplier, Takata Corp.
According to the report, vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda are being recalled because of passenger front airbags that do not inflate properly. Globally, Toyota is said to be recalling around 1.73 million cars including 510,000 in the US composed of Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia and Tundra as well as the Lexus SC430 for the 2001 through 2003 model years; this is the second time this year the 2003 Corolla and Matrix have been recalled for an airbag problem. Honda is recalling 1.14 million models, Nissan another 480,000 and Mazda 45,463. The article says that Takata supplied faulty airbags to non-Japanese automakers, but it did not specify which ones.
Honda and Toyota have released information on their own websites about the recall, while Nissan and Mazda have not yet commented. Read official press releases from Honda and Toyota, below, and look for updates as we have word from the others.

Honda to spool up turbos, workforce with F1 tech

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

Honda has had a longer and more tumultuous relationship with Formula One than just about any other automaker. It had only been building cars for four years before it entered F1 in 1964 as the first Japanese team in the series, winning its first race the following season but shuttering the program a few years later. Honda came back to power the likes of Williams and McLaren to several World Championships in the '80s and '90s, but things took a downturn when it started a partnership and ultimately took over British American Racing. After pouring untold billions into the effort, the economy tanked, and Honda ultimately sold the team, which subsequently claimed the championship - under new ownership and Mercedes power. Now Honda is gearing up to return in 2015 with a new turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain it's supplying initially to McLaren, which in turn is switching back to Honda from nearly two decades with Mercedes.
So why return to F1 now? That's precisely what Autoblog asked Honda's Global President and Chief Executive Takanobu Ito (pictured above with McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh) while visiting his office in Tokyo. While he wouldn't reveal specifics (like when his company's new engine would be available to other teams, as it most certainly will in the long run), Ito-san was clearly happy to discuss the motivation behind the move and the value he feels it brings to the company and its products.
Ito pointed toward the proliferation of motors within Honda's powertrains as a development he hopes to take to road from track

Honda launches new Fit in Japan, has big expectations for North America

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

Honda has officially launched the Fit sub-compact in its home market, ahead of its eventual arrival in North America. The third-generation Fit is wildly important for Honda, with the company's president, Takanobu Ito, saying, "This is the most important model."
The third-generation Fit is a ground-up reworking of the car that we've come to know. It will pioneer Honda's new design language, Exciting H Design (seriously) and will also be the very first Fit to be manufactured in North America. Thanks to a Mexican factory that is scheduled to open in the spring of 2014, Honda will be able to produce 200,000 Fits for the North American market in North America, saving the brand a huge amount of cash.
As for that Exciting H Design, it's meant to be sleeker and more modern, according to Automotive News. It's not bad looking, but the overall design is far less important than what's under that hood. The vehicle you see above is a Fit RS, which has quite a resemblance to the rumored Fit Mugen. There's not a lot of detail on this model, but based on looks alone, we certainly hope it'll be coming to the North American market - it'd make a great Fit Sport. A hybrid variant will also come to the US market, and that car is returning impressive numbers on the Japanese cycle: 86 miles per gallon so far, thanks to the combination of an 1.5-liter, Atkinson-cycle, four-cylinder engine and a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. That's a 35-percent improvement over the current, JDM Fit Hybrid.
