Because the military taking my overseas soon, I'm sadly having to sell my 1992 GMC Typhoon. It has a 4.3L, Turbo, all-wheel-drive (AWD) platform. Has 122,000 miles, however I've replaced the front brakes (brand new rotors and pads), replaced all the brake lines, entire ignition system (new cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires and coil), installed K&N intake filter, new battery, PLX Wideband Multi-gauge capable AFR gauge, and PLX Vac/Boost gauge, Borla 3" exhaust, and some more small little details. Engine runs healthy and turbo still pushes out a strong 15 psi. I also bought a full engine management system from Moates (TunerPro), but it isn't installed yet (comes with the sale). Also will throw in 2" machined aluminum drop blocks for the rear (brand new, not installed). I also have a file full of receipts on its history going back to when it was made in 92. The engine and turbo both had an overhaul at 95,000 miles (i have the receipts). Previous owner upgraded the rear drums to rear disks with Russell Performance stainless steal lines. The 700R-4 was completely rebuilt @ 117,000. The A/C blows cold. The interior is very nice and has the stock "Typhoon" stitched front bucket seats that are very comfortable. One of the cladding pieces (passenger rear) I fixed and sanded and the rest of the cladding has some clear coat coming up. It is #1156 of only 2500ish made in 1992 and its is fast. I definitely keep it up to the best of my ability. Please call or text if your interested.

Vehicle is sold AS IS and the shipment/transportation of vehicle when purchased is under the complete responsibility of the buyer.

2014 GMC Sierra 4.3L V6 to offer segment-best 305 LB-FT

Mon, 06 May 2013

General Motors has released more information on the 4.3-liter V6 available in the 2014 GMC Sierra. The engine will serve up 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque, with a six-speed automatic transmission, and giving the V6 Sierra a maximum tow rating of 7,200 pounds in regular cab, short bed four-wheel drive configuration. GM claims that figure is 500 pounds more than the equivalent Ford F-150 equipped with a 3.7-liter V6, and 700 pounds more than the Ram 1500 with its 3.6-liter V6. Buyers can expect to see the 2014 GMC Sierra with the 4.3-liter engine start at $25,085 including destination.
While the engine does deliver more torque than either of its main competitors, it falls short on the horsepower front. The 3.7-liter V6 in the F-150 develops 302 hp while the 3.6-liter V6 in the Ram 1500 yields 305 hp. GM says fuel economy estimates for its newest entry will land later this year. New J.D. Power Initial Quality Study puts Porsche, GM in spotlight

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

J.D. Power and Associates has released its annual Initial Quality Study, and this year, Porsche and General Motors took the spotlight. The study, which asks new car owners to report problems experienced during the first 90 days of ownership, found that overall, the industry averages 113 problems per 100 vehicles.
Porsche managed a score of just 80 problems per 100 vehicles, while GMC took the second spot on the podium with 90. Lexus filled out the top three with 94 problems per 100 vehicles, followed by Infiniti at 95 and Chevrolet at 97. The study also looks at specific models, and found the Lexus LS to enjoy the best initial quality at 59 problems per 100 vehicles.
Interestingly enough, the report found that around two-thirds of most owner problems experienced in the first 90 days are attributable to vehicle design instead of mechanical failure. Specifically - echoing a refrain we've been hearing for the last few years - owners are having a hard time figuring out how to use the technology present in their new vehicles. Head over to the J.D. Power site for more information, or scroll down below for the company's related press release.

GM dealers have ordered 30k Colorado and Canyon pickups, 3rd shift added

Wed, 17 Sep 2014

General Motors has an early success on its hands in the form of the initial rollout of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickup trucks. According to the automaker, dealers have ordered nearly 30,000 of the trucks thus far, a number that far exceeded GM's early expectations.
This high demand for the Colorado and Canyon twins has prompted GM to add a third shift to its Wentzville Assembly plant where the trucks are built, starting early next year. An extra shift will add an additional 750 jobs at the location to the 1,315 that were already employed there, according to the press release that you're welcome to read down below.
Such positive sales projections for the Canyon and Colorado may portend good things for the midsize pickup segment, which was once hugely popular but has more recently contracted, with the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma standing firm as the market leaders. Now that GM's entries are the most up-to-date, and with the segment's first diesel engine on the way, it will be interesting to see how the trucks continue to sell and if their hopeful success leads more automakers back onto the playing field.
