Up for auction we have a 2006 GMC Sierra Extended Cab 4x4. 6.0L Gas engine with roughly 125,000 miles on it. The truck itself has 237,000 miles on it and will change before the end of the auction because I still use it for service calls. Automatic transmission shifts great. Push button 4x4 works as it should. It is equipped with a Ranch Hand front bumper (valued at $1350 new). Also has a 8' Monroe utility box mounted on it since 2006 (valued at $5000 new). I have the keys for the locks. It also has a working beacon mounted on the headache rack. The truck is also accommodated with a fuel tank, electric pump, and hose that is mounted behind the headache rack. The exterior of the truck has it's flaws much like a work truck would have. (Dents, Dings, and Scratches) here and there. The utility box does have some rust on it as well as the rocker panels. As for the interior everything works. Cold A/C, good heater, power windows, locks, cruise, tilt, AM/FM Radio w/CD player. The carpet is in good condition with only a few stains. The drivers seat is a little worn but no tears. The rest of the seats are nice. This will make someone a great truck. Runs and drives great. Any questions feel free to ask. Winning bidder is required to pay a $500 deposit via paypal at the end of the auction. Balance in the form of cash within 7 days of the close of the auction. Thanks for looking.

GM phasing out light-duty 1500-series vans

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

In the market for a fullsize van but don't need a heavy-duty model? You're in the minority, and you're also out of luck. That's because there are barely any more fullsize vans on the market with gross vehicle weight rating of less than 8,500 pounds, the threshold that separates light- and heavy-duty vans.
According to PickupTrucks.com, neither the Ford E-Series, Ram ProMaster, nor Mercedes-Benz Sprinter are available in light-duty versions. Few of the Ford Transit configurations are, either, and now General Motors is discontinuing production of the 1500-series Chevy Express and GMC Savana.
Apparently light-duty versions accounted for just 23 percent of Express sales and only 7 percent of Savanas. Add to that the fact that these 1500 versions were the only ones using the old generation of engines and suspension, and that the Wentzville plant near St. Louis, Missouri, is trying to make room for the next Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, and the fate of the light-duty GM van was sealed.

GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups

Wed, 19 Feb 2014

Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.

GM renders new Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon pickups

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

At a series of industry seminars in Traverse City, MI today, General Motors executive vice president Dan Ammann gifted us with our first glimpse of the upcoming midsize pickup range from Chevrolet and GMC.
Just two slivers of nose are all we can see of the soon-to-be announced Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon, though the teaser image does make plain that the pair will follow the styling cues (at least up front) found on big brothers Silverado and Sierra.
GM hasn't given us much in the way of detail in its ultra-brief press release that accompanied the teaser image, which is to be expected. We're told only that the pair of trucks are designed to be "capable, versatile and fuel-efficient alternatives to full-size pickups" and that production will start sometime in 2014, at the Wentzville, MO assembly center.
