Time to sell my beloved Jimmy.  I will, to the best of my knowledge, describe everything i know to be good and bad about the vehicle.  So here we go....

1990 GMC Jimmy.  Rebuilt engine (Rebuilt by Chevy) with around 80K on it.  Rebuilt trans with shift kit with 20K on it.  Currently shows 217K on the odometer.

The good.  Clean Florida Title. Frame and Body are in great shape.  I tried to show any rust spots in pictures.  Could do with a paint job, but i loved the two-tone and wanted to put any money into the mechanics.  The interior is in really really great shape. Pictures show just how awesome this truck looks, and how much potential is in it. Starts EVERY time.  Never let me down. Power windows work, including the rear.  The dash switch for the rear doesn't work, but the rear window works with the key. Brakes are great.  BF Goodrich tires are in great shape and have tons of life left.  I just spent $$$$ getting the steering sorted (tight and straight), new horn, new spark plugs and hoses.

The less good :)  No stereo.  AC is currently not working (may just need charging?) The radiator has a leak and the engine temp shows the engine starting to get hot.  I am no mechanic, so I won't speculate, but know that it has been running hot.  Speedometer sometimes works great and sometimes doesn't.  Parking brake light stays on even though the parking brake is not on. Front bumper dent, rear bumper small dent.

I'm starting this listing at 0.99c with no reserve because i need this sold.  I have no mechanical knowledge and i don't have the money to fix the current issues.  If you have either of those, then this vehicle could be the one for you.  Vehicle sold as is.  Auction is for ownership, not a chance to browse.  Feel free to arrange a viewing of the vehicle...i have nothing to hide.  Deposit of $300 required within 24hrs.  Final payment required within 5 days.  Buyer responsible for collection of vehicle.  Once again, sold as is, ask questions before and I will do my best to respond.  Good luck!!!!!

New J.D. Power Initial Quality Study puts Porsche, GM in spotlight

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

J.D. Power and Associates has released its annual Initial Quality Study, and this year, Porsche and General Motors took the spotlight. The study, which asks new car owners to report problems experienced during the first 90 days of ownership, found that overall, the industry averages 113 problems per 100 vehicles.
Porsche managed a score of just 80 problems per 100 vehicles, while GMC took the second spot on the podium with 90. Lexus filled out the top three with 94 problems per 100 vehicles, followed by Infiniti at 95 and Chevrolet at 97. The study also looks at specific models, and found the Lexus LS to enjoy the best initial quality at 59 problems per 100 vehicles.
Interestingly enough, the report found that around two-thirds of most owner problems experienced in the first 90 days are attributable to vehicle design instead of mechanical failure. Specifically - echoing a refrain we've been hearing for the last few years - owners are having a hard time figuring out how to use the technology present in their new vehicles. Head over to the J.D. Power site for more information, or scroll down below for the company's related press release.

PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.

Watch GM's new pickup crash its way to five-star NHTSA ratings

Thu, 09 Jan 2014

General Motors has just scored a big win with its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, acing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration New Car Assessment Program. The two full-size trucks had already netted a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in their crew-cab variants, but the new testing certifies them as five-star trucks in both regular and double-cab bodystyles, so GM's trucks offer top ratings across the board.
"Our incredibly capable trucks have been engineered to be some of the safest," Gay Kent, GM's general director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness said. "We've designed the vehicle structure, strategically placed high-strength steel and developed the occupant restraint system to achieve high levels of safety performance."
The scores mark the Silverado and Sierra as the first pickups to net five-star scores since NHTSA beefed up their testing regime in 2011, a nice feather in GM's cap as it continues to slug out the pickup truck wars with crosstown rivals Ford and Ram.
