1972 Gmc Jimmy "custom" on 2040-cars
Port Orchard, Washington, United States
1972 GMC Jimmy "Custom" This is a project
vehicle & the reserve set reflects it. Having said that, it is still
a custom Jimmy, in Hugger orange! i have taken pictures of the area's
that are problematic & as you can see, they are minimal. The rust
area's are pretty much confined to the rockers, passenger side door
corners & the small spot in the front of the passenger side floor
boards. The very back area of the bed is pretty much the carpet backing.
I purchased this from the previous owner (recently deceased) with the
intention of fixing it up to a "trail rig" as you can see from the
photos, the passenger side has a bit of "trail patina" but nothing to
major for the rear quarter panel & all rockers, fenders & patch
panels are readily available & fairly inexpensive for this type of
vehicle. Those are the bad things. The good things
are the overall shape of this vehicle! The skinny that i know of goes
as follows. The rig has not been plated since 2004 i think. The previous
owner parked it (with no problems/running at the time) with the
intention of putting a fuel injection set-up on it. There it sat, under a
tarp, until his recent passing, upon which time i acquired the vehicle.
It has what is rumored to be a 400 small block Chevy in it, that may
run, but i have not attempted to get it started & going (hence the
low reserve) the majority of the floors, firewall & dash are largely
untouched minus the dash artist.Frame is in good shape with a "scuff
& shoot" all that is really needed. I was planning on putting the
floors in black rhino lining myself, but that is up to you! The vehicle
has had a basic clean out, with no washing of the interior & a quick
bath of the outside. It has some leather bucket seats out of an Honda
accord i think & an original rear that will need to be re-done.
Center console is there & seems to only need a few trim pieces.
Please feel free to e-mail me any questions about the vehicle. Buyer is
responsible for shipping & please bid on the vehicle if you can
afford to buy it. Buyer is responsible for shipping from area code 98367

Next-gen GM SUVs caught wearing new boxy bodies [w/video]
Wed, 15 May 2013We recently drove the brand-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and found it to be vastly improved compared to the outgoing model. And now that The General's pickup trucks have been squared away, it's time to focus our attention onto their passenger-friendly companions, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon (above).
Our spy photographers have passed along a huge smattering of photos (and a video), showing the new SUVs out testing. Both the short- and long-wheelbase models were spied, and while the overall shape of the vehicles hasn't changed all that much, we expect the updates to be substantial. In addition to new powertrain options, like GM's new small-block V8, we expect the interiors of both SUVs to get massive makeovers, providing better materials throughout their cabins and quieter, more refined environments. We even hear that some trick new suspension developments may be in store for upper-end models.
Visually, these spy shots allow us to see a couple of new details on the SUVs' front and rear fascias, including LED running lamps on the Yukon and some interesting LED taillamp treatments. Of course, the obvious third party missing from this set of photos is the Cadillac Escalade, but as we reported earlier, GM is working to further differentiate the 'Slade from the rest of the fullsize SUV lineup, and is working to make the new model "much less ostentatious."
GM confirms 2015 Silverado, Sierra to get 8-speed automatic
Fri, 18 Jul 2014When viewed alongside the next Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500, there is one thing that seems to be missing from the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Where the F-150 will rely on turbocharging and aluminum architecture and the Ram sports an eight-speed automatic and an air suspension, the General Motors twins lack a big, calling-card feature. They're very good, very refined trucks, but one could argue that they're not terribly innovative.
And while it might not be as flashy a feature as air suspension or a lightweight skin, the Silverado and Sierra will get their own eight-speed automatic for 2015, a transmission that will be paired with the company's Ecotec3 6.2-liter V8. The new cogswapper will also find its way into the GMC Yukon Denali, but for now, there's no indication why the Cadillac Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe and standard Yukon are being left out.
According to GM, the new gearbox is about the same size and weight as the current Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed. By the time the new powertrain combination enters production late this year, the EPA will almost certainly have gotten around to certifying the vehicles' fuel efficiency. Until then, feel free to speculate. The current Silverado with the 6.2 and six-speed auto returns 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway. How much do you think the eight-speed will improve those figures? Scroll down for the official press blast from General Motors, and then head into Comments.
2014 GMC Sierra
Wed, 12 Jun 2013Is the Best GMC Truck Ever Made Good Enough?
We've got a bright aluminum Airstream camper hitched to our rear bumper as we head up Southern California's coast because GMC says that 60 percent of all full-size pickup owners will use their trucks for towing.
Rather than forcing us to absorb its capabilities in a long-winded PowerPoint presentation, the automaker brought us to Los Angeles and handed us the keys to its all-new 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. After jumping behind the wheel of a 5.3-liter V8 model, we drove up the foggy Malibu coast (locals call the soggy early-summer weather "June Gloom") and made our way to the Camarillo Airport for a towing refresher. Once completed, a brand-new 23-foot Airstream was hitched to our aft end and we were pointed towards a campground just west of Santa Barbara.
