Here is my 1974 Ford Gran Torino Starsky & Hutch clone. She is a very nice car that runs and drives well and has only 34k original miles on her. She is not a perfect restored car, rather a very, very nice original that was garage-kept for most of her life. She runs and drives wonderfully and is a pleasure to drive. She was painted at my direction with the correct paint codes and with the template for the stripe, so it has the correct shape and contour. She was done in the more expensive and more durable two-stage paint (base cloat/clear coat) rather than single stage. The paint and body are beautiful as you can see in the pictures. She was not an opera window car, so she has the correct interior panels inside the C pillar.

She is the most complete original Gran Torino I have ever owned – and I’ve had 4 of these. She has original items that most others are missing – like: All 4 original FORD rubber “Torino” script floor mats, the original taillight gaskets (metal & rubber pieces that usually disappear when the car is painted), original hood insulation with the washer lines and nozzles still in place, original build sheet, original jack and bias-ply spare tire, fuel filler pipe cover (I have never seen another one of these), original front license plate bracket (usually gone), still has un-painted original stone deflector dividers at the front (most had been painted over by now), trunk dropoff cardboard panels, etc. She still has her 1975 Ohio state patrol inspection sticker on the windshield. I will even include the original set of (4) Torino hubcaps with the car.

All the gauges work, fuel, temp, etc – radio plays perfectly, horn works, wipers and washer, etc. The 351w 2v engine runs well and has a silent valve train. She is completely un-modified; still sporting her 2100 2v carburetor, automatic transmission and 9-inch rear. Vintage aluminum slot mag wheels on the car – 70s Cragars with matching center caps on the rear, vintage rims on the front with modern replacement center caps. In keeping with the more authentic look, all the wheels are 14-inch. The power steering is light – as these 70s cars should be - and operates effortlessly. I have not played with the AC, but I bet it will need to be charged – all components are there. The ride height and rake are set by Monroe air shocks, so you can set the height as desired.

The interior is a time capsule – the seats have no tears, the dash pad is not cracked, the original radio was never removed. The carpet is in good shape and the headliner only has a small hole behind the driver’s sunvisor. The door panels are beautiful and un-modified. The original steering wheel is actually crack-free and even the horn buttons are un-damaged and in beautiful condition. The seats are black with the original factory decorative pattern on the seat faces. On the passenger front seat, there is a bit of a stain – looks like it might have been spilled coffee. If you know someone into upholstery cleaning, that might be an easy task.
The grill is in exceptional shape as you can see in the pictures and I had all the nose trim professionally polished a while back. All the wheel opening moldings are there as well as the rocker moldings, etc. The right-front wheel opening molding piece is the worst – having a bit of damage on it at the 2-o’clock position that you can probably see in the pics. Of course, if you find a new piece, it’s just a few screws to replace it. The rear bumper I had re-chromed, so it looks beautiful. The floors, rockers and frame rails are exceptional. The only rust I have found on this car is the left front bumper bracket; which a new one can be simply bolted on when located. (If I find one first, I will bolt it on)

I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. She is ready to bump the key and go. She will get you a LOT of attention on the road and at cruise-night destinations and car shows. She is a lot of fun, you will regularly be asked for permission for pictures, etc. The car has a clear MD title and is available for inspection by appointment at my home in Baltimore, MD before the auction ends. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time since the car is for sale locally as well. If you follow these cars, you know that this is an exceptional price and value, so don’t delay… Obviously, the car will not leave my house until payment clears – even certified checks need to clear due to some of the scams running today. Pay with cash and you can take the car instantly – I’ll even offer $100 off with cash.

Be sure to check out all the extra photos and video of the car running, etc at this link. Pics and Video

Delivery within the Baltimore metro area is free. If you would like me to deliver the car within the eastern US, I would charge $1.75 per loaded mile with my own trailer.

Ford's Troller introduces even more rugged T4 SUVs in Sao Paulo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Bronco may be long gone from Ford dealerships back home, but down in Brazil its spirit lives on in the Troller brand. Founded independently in 1995, Ford do Brasil took over Troller in 2007 and has been teasing us with its rough-and-tumble SUVs ever since. So with the Sao Paulo Motor Show coming up, Troller has revealed this special version of the T4.
Looking even more rugged than the existing three-door sport-ute, this special T4 packs a snorkel, winch, upgraded bumpers and knobbier tires. We're not sure what to make of the "sophisticated" brown and tan paint job, but send it north and the Jeep Wrangler would have a new challenger on its hands... especially since the Toyota FJ Cruiser was discontinued.
Alongside the version seen here, Troller will also exhibit another T4 outfitted for rescue workers. Scope out initial details of both in the press release below, enclosed in both its original Portuguese and auto-translated into English.

Ford shows off V8-powered Ranger headed to Dakar Rally

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Avert your eyes now if you're jealous that the global version of the Ford Ranger is not offered in the US. Ford's midsize pickup is being tuned up to take on the 2014 Dakar Rally, and the result is a truck that is probably even cooler than any F-150 SVT Raptor we've ever seen in the States. Ford is actually building two versions of the truck for Dakar, which will run from January 5 through January 18, covering more than 5,000 miles from Argentina to Chile.
Starting with a fully composite body and a 5.0-liter V8 plucked from a Mustang, nearly every aspect of the trucks have been purpose built to take on the grueling race. This includes things like the six-speed sequential gearbox, liquid-cooled rear brakes and the 132-gallon fuel tank. As proof that Dakar is more about endurance than speed, the engines used in these race trucks will be limited to around 350 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, and will max out at a top speed of just 105 miles per hour. Scroll down for Ford's official press release offering more information about the trucks and teams being prepped for Dakar.

Ford reports 58% drop in Q2 profits on European losses

Wed, 25 Jul 2012

Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday that it has posted a $1 billion profit for the second quarter of 2012. That sounds like good news for the Blue Oval, until you take into account that Ford posted a $2.4 billion profit for Q2 a year ago. That is a substantial 58 percent loss.
Ford also posted $465 million in international losses, with $404 million of those losses coming directly from Europe. The automaker also increased its European loss projections to $1 billion for 2012, due in large part to the economic crisis overseas, which has resulted in increased unemployment and decreased consumer confidence.
