1971 Ford Torino 500 Fastback. These cars are getting harder and harder to find...and this one is solid! This vehicle is a good daily driver right now but would make a great start to a full on restoration project. It was originally a 302 (original engine included) but now has a 351 Cleveland 4V, aluminum intake, Headman headers, Auto, PS, Factory Air (not installed but I have ALL the pieces), Magnum 500 wheels and nearly new tires. Brand new items include...full length FlowMaster dual exhaust with crossover pipe, Edlebrock carb w/electric choke, distributer, water pump, high volume oil pump, rod bearings (engine was NOT rebuilt but had some lower end noise, I replaced bearings and eliminated 90% of engine noise), spark plugs, brake master cylinder, fuel pump, B&M ratchet shifter, trans mount, motor mount, AM-FM CD player and speakers as well as a bunch of other misc items. All electrical items like lights, signals, wipers, temp gauge, fuel gauge, wipers etc work well. One exception...although the heat/AC fan is operational the heater core has been bypassed and my assumption is that it's bad. The paint is faded and worn in various places. It also has some surface rust in a few areas (top of fender, roof line and trunk) but only one area on the body where it is through the metal. The body is very solid and so is the undercarriage (I took some undercarriage photos of the frame and floors). There is one area rusted through on the drivers side floor but over all is in great shape.  The undercarriage is actually original and NOT all painted up underneath so you can actually see what you get (photos show this). The trunk, inner fender wells and shock towers are also original and rust free. The interior is all original and has tears on both seats, the headliner and carpet. The odometer reads 64,159 miles and the previous owner and the title state that it is original. Again, this is not a show car but it is solid! I am definitely ONLY interested in selling it, so no trade offers please.  I am also offering it for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  The vehicle is sold with no warranty expressed or implied.  If you have any questions shoot me an email and I will reply as soon as I can.  Good luck and good bidding.

How the Ford Shelby Mustang came to be

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

Even as rumors swirl that the next-generation of high-performance Ford Mustang will drop the Shelby name, Ford has released a short video telling how the legend of the Shelby Mustang came to be. In its latest installment of its video series entitled Mustang Countdown, Ford dug up some footage from Carroll Shelby to give a little insight into how this automotive icon was created.
While it's definitely interesting to hear the late legend tell the story in his own words (including numerous references to the 1964 Mustang as a "secretary's car"), it's also pretty funny learning exactly how the Shelby GT350 got its name in the first place - a name allegedly making a comeback as the replacement for the current Shelby GT500. As development work continues on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the Shelby video posted below shows that the automaker is always looking at its past - even as it looks ahead to the future.

Next Lincoln Navigator to drop V8 in favor of V6, but Ford Expedition might get both

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

A great many buyers fled from full-size body-on-frame SUVs to car-based crossovers in large measure to save fuel. But that doesn't mean there's still not a buying audience for more traditional truck-based utility vehicles, and those consumers doubtlessly wouldn't mind saving some dollars at the pump, too. According to Motor Trend, those shoppers might be in luck.
That's because the magazine has confirmed that Ford isn't walking away from the full-size SUV segment, and it's poised to do something about its offerings' economy ratings, too. According to MT, global Lincoln director Matt VanDyke has hinted that the next Navigator may drop two cylinders and go with a V6 model - the current model gets just 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway from its 5.4-liter V8. The obvious fitment would be Ford's 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, an engine that has spread like kudzu throughout the rest of the Blue Oval's large vehicle lineup.
Downsized turbocharged engines like Ford's EcoBoost franchise have come under fire as of late for not delivering their EPA fuel economy ratings, but their benefits extend beyond consumption - the 3.5L offers superior power and a better torque curve than the naturally aspirated V8. MT also suggests that Ford's 3.7-liter V6 could form the base engine for the next Navi - it has similar horsepower but a lot less torque than the current 5.4L. That may be less of a problem with the next generation tipped to go on a diet, which could level the playing field somewhat.
