I bought this car about two years ago.  I planned to convert into a vintage fire chief car, but decided not to.  The car is a true survivor.  It is in complete original condition.  There are no engine/transmission leaks, no smoke.  The motor runs smoothly, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The body has various minor dents and dings.  A body repair was made to the area around the left tail light (see pic of primered left tail light).  There is a ding in the rear bumper (see pic).  There is a dent in the left fender. There is some pitting rust on the panel between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the grille; a similar area on the rear as well.  The chrome on the bumpers and around the window/windshield looks good. The chrome door guards are dinged and scratched.  The driver's window is difficult to wind down (easier to wind up).The interior is in very good condition.  There are no tears in the seats. The headliner is completely intact. The door panels look great.  There are no splits in the dash or rear deck.  There are no window/windshield cracks.  All lights, horns, gauges are in working order.  The clock does not work.

This vehicle can be driven anywhere.  I do not know of any other mechanical issues.  This is a great cruiser as is, or could be completely dressed up with very little money.  Sold as-is.  Advertised locally - so I may remove from Ebay if reserve has not been met.  Good Bidding!

Barrett-Jackson 2014: First production 2015 Ford Mustang earns $300k for JDRF [w/video]

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

We've almost become immune to the huge dollar amounts that collectible cars earn for charity at Barrett-Jackson. To wit, $300,000 for the first production 2015 Ford Mustang initially didn't seem like very much money. In reality, though, it's probably about 10 times the actual asking price for the car, and we're pleased to report that 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
According to Ford, the car's winning bidder will get to "choose a fastback with manual or automatic transmission, and any interior, exterior and stripe color combination offered by Ford on the all-new Mustang." Power will come from a slightly revised version of the well-known 5.0-liter V8 engine that will produce "more than 420hp and 396 pound-feet of torque."
We snapped live images of the 2015 Mustang prototype that Ford had on display here at Barrett-Jackson, and you can check them out above. The official auction description, along with a video of the auction as it happened live, is below.

Wrap up some fun with Ford's commercial vehicle configurator

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

Ford has combined multiple steps into one with its commercial vehicle configurator, which allows users to choose, design and place orders for the Transit, Transit Connect, E-Series vans and F-Series Super Duty trucks.
The most interesting part of the new configurator is a fairly robust design tool. Users are able to choose paint color and wrap the vehicle, and then create their own graphics. No materials are needed - Ford provides numerous background textures, text boxes, plenty of shapes and 20 categories of images including floral, construction, plumbing and skylines. Self-created designs or images can be uploaded to the system as well.
We played around with the design tool a bit and uploaded our own image to create the Autoblog Podcast Live van you see here. Feel free to check out the configurator and make your own design.

How the Ford Shelby Mustang came to be

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

Even as rumors swirl that the next-generation of high-performance Ford Mustang will drop the Shelby name, Ford has released a short video telling how the legend of the Shelby Mustang came to be. In its latest installment of its video series entitled Mustang Countdown, Ford dug up some footage from Carroll Shelby to give a little insight into how this automotive icon was created.
While it's definitely interesting to hear the late legend tell the story in his own words (including numerous references to the 1964 Mustang as a "secretary's car"), it's also pretty funny learning exactly how the Shelby GT350 got its name in the first place - a name allegedly making a comeback as the replacement for the current Shelby GT500. As development work continues on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the Shelby video posted below shows that the automaker is always looking at its past - even as it looks ahead to the future.
