1966 T-bird found abandoned in a barn and great for a restoration project. Vin #  6Y87Z107660. This vehicle's body appears very straight. Interior very nice with no wear on seats. Chrome and aluminum trim pit and dent free. All original with factory A/C. Powered buy the 390Hp V8 automatic transmission. I do not know if it runs but common sense would tell me a carb rebuild, plugs, points-condenser, maybe fuel pump and wire set it should  purr like a kitten. These cars are old school and cheap to tune!! I was told the mileage is original at 29,686 and the party I spoke to said it did not leak or burn any oil when they seen it run 20 years ago. The owner is deceased so I do not have any concrete info. The odometer could have been turned over but I would think you would see wear in the seats and pedals if that were the case. So your on your own. It is sold as is. I checked the fluids and all is where it should be ( anti freeze, engine oil and transmission fluid)...The vinyl top had deteriorated and due to absorbing water has rusted the top. There are some soft spots up there. The glass and plastic tail lights all look good. In my personal opinion for a car almost 50 years old it is good shape and a great restoration project. There is a large box of manuals and info and factory hub caps inside the vehicle. The tires do hold air for a while but obviously will need to be replaced. I have a clear Fl title and the car can sit for a while for shipping arrangements if needed... Again this vehicle is sold as is !!. I thought of keeping it but I have too many projects....Scott (352) 383-6243

Ford shares falling on news of lower-than-expected profits next year

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Ford has released projections for its 2013 profits, along with predictions of its 2014 earnings, and the news has forced the company's stock to stumble, falling over seven percent as of this writing. The Blue Oval is expecting earnings of $8.34 billion for 2013, although the bulk of that is coming largely from its North American operations, as troubles abroad continue to take a toll.
Calling 2013 an "outstanding" year, Ford expects its revenue to be up about 10 percent, thanks to gains in market share everywhere but Europe. But it's 2014 predictions that are causing stock prices to fall, as the Dearborn-based manufacturer expects pre-tax profits to fall to $7 to $8 billion, because of troubles in both Europe and South America, according to a report from Reuters. This is despite an expansion plan that will see it open an additional factory in the southern hemisphere, as well as two plants in China, all in a bid to launch 23 new or refreshed products next year.
The issues in South America aren't so much related to a fall in sales - Ford expects improved profits in Brazil and Argentina - but because of currency devaluations in Venezuela that are projected to cost it around $350 million. While that would still allow it to break even with 2013, Ford cites continued economic risks that could push losses even higher.

Ford hiring 2,200 salaried US workers this year

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

With its influx of popular new products made in the US, Ford Motor Company has announced that it intends to hire 2,200 new salaried workers domestically this year. This is the biggest increase of salaried workers for Ford in the last 10 years, and it is all a part of Ford's contract commitment to the United Auto Workers union to bring 12,000 new jobs to the US by 2015.
There were no specifics as to where in the US these job openings will be, but Ford did reiterate that it will be spending $773 million on equipment upgrades and capacity expansion at six plants located in southeast Michigan; as a whole, Ford is investing a total of $6.2 billion to its US assembly plants over the next couple years. According to recently appointed president of the Americas Joe Hinrichs, the new jobs will be focused on areas such as engineering, manufacturing and computer software. Ford will post its job openings online at careers.ford.com, and it will also use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to recruit new workers, including military veterans.

BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod

Thu, 20 Jun 2013

Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
