1970 Ford Thunderbird Brougham on 2040-cars

Year:1970 Mileage:28000 Color: of the car
Location:

Royal, Arkansas, United States

Royal, Arkansas, United States

I will describe the T-bird as best i can and please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. The odometer and the title both show 28,xxx miles and title states actual. Actual or not I am not sure. There is only one torn area on the drivers seat and could be from getting in and getting out. Other areas of wear suggest that miles are incorrect. either may, there is no proof. The headliner has 2 holes and appears to have been made by rodents. The rest of the interior appears original and in good condition with the exception of a 3" crack in the dash pad.

Mechanically the car runs and drives and stops. The air does not blow cold but is all there. The exhaust system must have a bad hanger as the tail pipe is bouncing on the frame and the drivers side tail pipe needs to be replaced. The rear main seal leaks badly and will need to be replaced.

The exterior of the car. Car has been painted and had rust repair previously. The rear quarters will require metal work to be put back correct. The good news is that as far as i can tell, the only rust issues are in the quarters. The floors, trunk, doors are all solid. There are a couple bumps under the vinyl roof but can't tell for sure what's going on there. The vinyl roof itself does show signs of weather damage from the sun. A couple small pieces of stainless trim are missing and a couple others are damaged. All could stand to be polished. The back bumper needs to be re-chromed and the rear valance has been damaged. The overall condition of the paint is fair. But truly the car needs to be restored to be the glamour bird it once was.

The car does have the gorgeous bucket seat console interior but was not delivered with power windows, seats, door locks or cruise control. The positive of that is less to go wrong.

The windshield has one small star from a stone but all the rest is good.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the car at 501-262-8565.

May be able to help with shipping.

Ford shows off V8-powered Ranger headed to Dakar Rally

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Avert your eyes now if you're jealous that the global version of the Ford Ranger is not offered in the US. Ford's midsize pickup is being tuned up to take on the 2014 Dakar Rally, and the result is a truck that is probably even cooler than any F-150 SVT Raptor we've ever seen in the States. Ford is actually building two versions of the truck for Dakar, which will run from January 5 through January 18, covering more than 5,000 miles from Argentina to Chile.
Starting with a fully composite body and a 5.0-liter V8 plucked from a Mustang, nearly every aspect of the trucks have been purpose built to take on the grueling race. This includes things like the six-speed sequential gearbox, liquid-cooled rear brakes and the 132-gallon fuel tank. As proof that Dakar is more about endurance than speed, the engines used in these race trucks will be limited to around 350 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, and will max out at a top speed of just 105 miles per hour. Scroll down for Ford's official press release offering more information about the trucks and teams being prepped for Dakar.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.

Watch Piquet and Mansell bend some sheetmetal in Ford Fusion GP

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

As we told you about before, there were four episodes planned for the Ford Fusion GP campaign in Brazil, and the whole series has now run its course. The Ford ads pit Brazilian Formula One driver Nelson Piquet against English F1 pilot Nigel Mansell driving the new Fusion, the two coming together again after their partnership at the Williams F1 team ended in a miserable state more than 20 years ago.
They're lined up for you below, in reverse chronological order. You should watch number three first, though, as it adds a bit more spice to the NASCAR action in the fourth.
