1969 Ford Thunderbird Base Sedan 4-door 7.0l on 2040-cars
Lexington, Kentucky, United States
Restored 10 years ago. Very Sharp 12-20 footer. 429 Thunder jet engine. Almost all original (vinyl seat covers replaced). 60k miles and odometer has always worked. Rebuilt engine after I purchased the car in 2002, with less than 3000 miles on the rebuilt motor. Transmission has always shifted very smoothly. New 4 barrel Holly carb installed last year (made it run the best it ever has). Original top and headliner. Suicide 4 door model. I purchased the car in 2002 and restored it, changed the paint color from gray to black, interior was redone with a kit. Body was stripped to the metal before painting. There are a few minor cosmetic paint issues. Very good condition for the age, Frame / underside / floor pans/ trunk are all in great shape. AC works and was converted to R134a. Headlights hideaway when car is running. Several spare parts (starter etc.) go with the car. The tail light sequencer does not work, but other than that everything else does. This car has been taken on trips since being rebuilt, including an 800 mile trip a few years ago. Several spare parts go with the car (starter, set of original vinyl mats etc). Selling the car because I do not drive it much anymore, and have several other cars. Mechanically the car is very sound. There are minor cosmetic issues, but this car is a head turner. Buyer is responsible for shipping. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask. |

Ford recalling 205k Edge and Lincoln MKX units for possible corrosion
Thu, 30 Oct 2014After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
The campaign covers 204,448 examples of the models in 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and some provinces of Canada. In total there are 186,024 vehicles in need of repair in the US and 18,424 in Canada.
According to Ford, it's possible for the area, "under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" to corrode. If this happens, there might be a gas smell in the vehicle or even a fuel leak could develop. In fact, the automaker reports that one fire could be related to the problem but no injuries or accidents are reported.
Watch how Ken Block spent his weekend in Barbados
Thu, 22 May 2014Regardless of what you think of his skill as a racer, Ken Block is an expert showman. At this point, he has a career of showing up around the world to do vehicular stunts, and he's still able to go racing as well. It's a pretty sweet niche to carve out. Recently, Block was in Barbados to participate in Top Gear Live and the first event of the Global Rallycross Championship season, and Ford Racing produced a short video to show off his exploits.
It looked like a great show. Block got to race Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz Formula One car and had a very weird crash during a Rallycross race that put his Ford Fiesta on its roof. Top Gear also released an extended look at Block and Hamilton's spectacle with the two of them expertly sliding around. Scroll down to watch the videos and get a taste of Block's tropical racing adventure.
Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes
Mon, 18 Jul 2011Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.
