1968 Ford Thunderbird Base Sedan 4-door 7.0l on 2040-cars
Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
I have a 1968 Ford
Thunder bird four door sedan. The body is in good
condition, no body damage and no cancer at all throughout the vehicle, very
original car from what I can tell. The floor boards and
trunk pan are very solid with no rust at all. The top is solid as well under
the vinyl. The interior is in
really nice shape and very comfortable, it looks to be all original, but for
how nice it is it could have been redone. Interior lights all come
on when the door is open and all dash lights and instruments work even the
power seats and radio!
The only instrument that
may not work is the gas gauge. It has a new stainless steel gas tank and I
think the sending unit may have gotten unplugged as to why the gas gauge is not
working. The only real surface
rust is near the bottom of the vinyl top on the rear passenger side, but the
body and frame is very solid in all areas. The vinyl top is in overall good
shape for its age, but there is a section in the back that has cracked and is
missing. To be really nice it could be replaced or just the under window
section could be replaced. All doors open and all
as they should and the glass is in good shape. The drivers power window is the
only window I have gotten to go up and down. The others may work but I have not
investigated, they may just be stuck. The electro-
pneumatic Headlights and windshield wipers work as they should
and the headlights are really cool to see flip up.The heater and defroster work
well and have been nice on these cold days. It has not been warm enough to
really test the A/C yet. It has front disk brakes
which allow the car to slow down very easily, a big plus because this car
really likes to move down the road! The chrome is all in
good shape and all the trim pieces seem to be there as well as emblems ect. It has a 429 V8 that
does start and run and idles very nicely, the automatic transmission shifts
great. Mechanically the car performs very well, power steering is smooth and
the car does not leak a drop of anything. I have had this car floating down the
road at 85 mph with out a problem. I bought the car from an
older gentleman who has owned it for the last 15 years and he purchased it from
the original owners. It has been garage kept most of its life. I bought it to
have as a nice Sunday cruiser for the family, but plans have changed and we need
to sell. With a little work this car could be a nice show car, but for now it is
a great driver and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. If someone wanted to
restore it and make it a nice show vehicle this would be a perfect candidate. If you have any
questions please do not hesitate to let me know, And I will get back with you
to the best of my knowledge of the vehicle I have over 25 pictures
of the interior and exterior as well as a video of the car running and driving,
and I can send pictures and a short video of any area of the car for serious
bidders. This vehicle is sold
AS-IS no warranty is written or expressed. 500 dollar deposit is
due at end of auction with remaining cost due upon pick up of vehicle. shipping/transportation
of vehicle is the responsibility of the buyer. Thanks you for your
interest, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains
Wed, 21 May 2014If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.
Chrysler called out over lackluster Ram Runner by racer who helped develop it
Fri, 11 Apr 2014Fans of off-roading and desert blasting might recall that Chrysler offers an aftermarket conversion that can turn a Ram 1500 into a road-legal desert racer, called the Ram Runner. The kit, sold through Mopar, includes some significant suspension upgrades, body tweaks and a brawnier cat-back exhaust for the truck's 5.7-liter V8.
Considering all of this, comparisons with the almighty Ford F-150 SVT Raptor are common. Among the off-road community, that makes these two a sort of Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang for people that prefer driving on dirt. In the Race-Dezert forum, the discussion as to which truck was better was proceeding as normal - Ram fans said their piece and Ford fans said theirs. Then, a man named Kent Kroeker offered up his two cents.
See, Kroeker is a Baja racer, and the man that helped develop the Ram Runner. Despite his association with the truck, though, he had some less than kind words for Chrysler and the Ram Runner.
