You are bidding on a  1964 Thunderbird Convertible with the roadster package. This started out as a South Carolina car so there is no rust. It has a nice solid body. I have done a lot of work on her over the past 2 years that I have owned her. It has a new suspension including new leaf springs, bushings, shackles and shocks in the rear. (No saggy butt on this bird like most). She sits right. In the front I replaces the coil springs, upper control arms, lower control arm bushings, upper ball joints, lower ball joints,  stabilizer links and bushings, stabilizer bushings and front shocks. Everything I took off the car was sanded to bare metal and painted before re-assembling.  At some time the engine and tranny were rebuilt. I did add and brand new Holley  four barrel and a pertronix  distributor electronic ignition which eliminates the points. I replaced the back bumper with a brand new one and new tail light lenses too. 1964 did not come with sequential signals so I added digital sequencers to the signals that work great. I added a new dedent plate and new shift handle along with a new signal switch and gear shift indicator. All of the hard stuff is done.  Some of the things left to do are it has Kelsey Hayes wire wheel but one has elongated lug holes and all have minimal surface rust. The tires are old and should be replaced.  The paint is driver quality and has some chips and imperfections. The seat covers are good but the foam in the front seats could use replacing. It does have newer carpet. The gas gauge does not work but I have a new one that will go with the car. The speedometer works but needs a new cable. I have a new cable that goes with the car. Horn needs to be hooked up. All lights work as they should. The convertible mecanism works good but occasionally  I have to play with the main limit switch to open the smaller lid. I believe it is just an adjustment  to the switch. All of the hard stuff is finished just waiting your finishing touches. She is a good driver now. Enjoy as is or bring her to the next level with some tires, wheels and paint!  Please call with any questions you might have. My cell is 203 233 5023 or my home number is 860 4176164. Ask for Bill. Leave a message if no answer and I will call you back. Thanks for looking!

Next SVT Mustang may axe Shelby name, go naturally aspirated

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Following our first glimpse at the 2015 Ford Mustang out on the road, the fine folks at Road and Track have divulged some details on what the Blue Oval's next pony might have in store. We've already seen that the car will get some very sleek, Evos-inspired design cues, and an independent rear suspension is indeed in store. These new details, however, concern the muscle car's beating heart.
For starters, the base Ford coupe is expected to carry on with V6 power, likely from the same 3.7-liter unit found in today's car. From there, R&T says the next step up will be a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, likely displacing 2.3 liters, putting out as much as 350 horsepower. Of course, a Mustang wouldn't be a Mustang without V8 thrust, and R&T states that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will continue on into the 2015 car, making something like 450 horsepower.
But it's at the high end of the Mustang range where things will, reportedly, get very, very interesting. Road & Track claims that the top-shelf 'Stang will likely lose the supercharger from its engine, producing a metric crap-ton of naturally aspirated grunt instead. Additionally, the SVT-fettled Mustang will likely be dropping its Shelby moniker, in favor of "a name you're familiar with," according to the magazine (you know, like, Cobra).

Hennessey Ford GT sets 267.6-MPH record at Texas Mile [w/videos]

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

The record-setting Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT we showed you at this time last year headed back to the Texas Mile and managed to bring home yet another record. As you may recollect, last year saw Mark Heidraker's machine sprint to a record 257.7 mph thanks to propulsion from its twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8. The big mill sucks down race gas, and this year the creation pulled off a 267.6-mph run over the weekend. That feat set a new record for the event. Something tells us neither Heidraker nor Hennessey are done squeezing more thrust from this machine.
This particular Ford GT has already gone through a number of permutations. Hennessey started by tweaking the factory supercharger set up before abandoning the blower in favor of two turbos. Since then, the crew has poked and prodded it to coerce as much grunt as possible out of the car. We expect Hennessey will probably come out with a video of the record-setting run shortly, but in the meantime, you can see a couple of videos of the car's runs in Texas below (one of which actually captures the record run). Enjoy.

Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
