Up for auction is my 1963 Ford Convertible with the optional roadster tonneau cover (included). I bought this 5 years ago and restored it to its present very good condition. It was redone to its original Corinthian white exterior and original red vinyl interior, ( 76A-M-55-19M-53). The tires on the car are 90% tread and 2 new tires are included. The car is registered, insured and is driven weekly. It has a new, professionally installed vinyl top. All glass is very good. New aluminum door and dash panels. Car does not have A/C but there is an A/C vent in dash. All gauges, except clock are working. New vinyl upholstery. Rear spats are included but need to be painted. The retractable top is working beautifully (some relays and hydraulic cylinders replaced). Front and rear bumpers are original and in good condition. The rear chrome light surrounds have been rechromed. All the electrics work. Windows and seats are manual. Downside...the transmission needs to be adjusted, as it sometimes snaps out of park into reverse. This is why I always park it in neutral and apply foot brake. Also,( as shown in photo) there is a small dent in left rear fender measuring 4 inches in diameter. As a plus, I was told, when I bought it, that the engine rings and bearings were done a few years previously. Car has great power and is a real "eye catcher" with its red and white color combo. Sorry to see it go but other projects are waiting. Buyer is responsible for shipping or local pick-up. Requires $1000.00 pay pal deposit within 48 hours of sale. Being sold as is/ where is. Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
NHTSA closes investigations into Ford Taurus, Hyundai Santa Fe
Wed, 03 Jul 2013Ford and Hyundai are out from under the scrutinizing eyes of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after the government agency said it was closing investigations against both automakers over vehicle safety concerns.
Ford was being investigated for reported damaged speed control cables on Ford Taurus (shown above) and Mercury Sable models, both built between 2000 and 2003. Vehicles with the company's Duratec engines allegedly failed to allow owners to brake as expected. Owners lodged 100 complaints and were involved in five accidents, according to NHTSA records. The American automaker responded to the reports, and on June 21 of this year, said that it would inspect and repair all affected vehicles, regardless of the mileage.
Hyundai was under investigation for a reported loose fastener on the steering shaft of its 2011 Santa Fe (shown in the gallery below). After NHTSA launched its inquiry, the Korean automaker responded with its own investigation that yielded four affected vehicles. Following the inspection of 680 vehicles at its assembly plant, Hyundai said the issue was due to employee error and that no further defects have been found.
