Hi Everyone, 1962 T-Bird that I just got recently from my friend and was hoping to restore it but my new baby boy needs a bigger house, so no money to spend on hobbies I guess. It is being offered in a bid-to-buy auction with No Reserve! So bid to win and Please make sure you have the funds ready before you bid. Due to previous experience with bidders with low feedback, any bids with less than 5 feedbacks will be cancelled. The car is currently in a storage place close to me (15min) Here is my summary for a complete test of the car (I'm not a mechanic):
As you see it has body damage on the rear passenger's side quarter panel and tail light. This is how I got it. I got an estimate from the collision shop that I deal with for $1,000. No Rust in the body at all as you see in pics! The Engine runs like a champ but it takes few cranks to start it on colder days, I did see a small oil leak on the side of the engine. The trans need the cable replaced it shifts fine but you have to shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd using the shifter knob. The fuel and temperature gauges not working. Heat works fine. Interior is ok. the trim on the passenger door and fender are in the trunk and so are the hubcaps covers. the trim on the quarter panel where the damage is missing. Trunk does not close. The trim on the trunk and interior mirror are inside of car. The rest all complete and all original ! While testing I heard a squeak noise from the passenger's side axle when steering all the way to the end. You must pick up or arrange for shipping, but I don't recommend driving this car out of state or for a very long trip before everything is taken care of. The weight/fee category on the title is 4092 if that can help with shipping I know that this is a rare color and not many tbirds out there with this nice turquoise in and out. I'm sorry about the quality of the pics but if you have any questions please ask. I don't have space for it on my driveway and need to have it out of storage ASAP. I know I'm forgetting something, but trying to say everything I know about it. I'm still in contact with the previous owner and he'll be glad to talk to you about it. I know he had it for a long time. Car is listed locally for sale. $500 Deposit Required Immediately after the end of Auction. If you don't like the car you can have your deposit back. Please you must have all the funds ready before the end of the Auction! Clear Michigan Title in Hand. Any questions please ask! Thank you for looking and Happy Holidays! |

EPA says fuel economy test for hybrids is accurate
Mon, 26 Aug 2013
The EPA says it stands behind its fuel economy test for hybrid vehicles following controversy about the testing process after Ford C-Max Hybrid customers and automotive journalists alike struggled to achieve 47 miles per gallon, the advertised mpg number, Automotive News reports. Ford responded to the issue almost two weeks ago by claiming that a 1970s-era EPA general label rule was responsible for the inaccurate mileage numbers, rerating the C-Max Hybrid's mpg numbers and offering customers rebates. Ford later said it didn't overstate the C-Max Hybrid's fuel economy and that it was surprised by the low numbers.
Ford technically didn't do anything wrong because it was following the general label rule, but agency regulator Christopher Grundler says the automaker was exploiting a loophole when it came up with the hybrid C-Max numbers, and that the testing process remains accurate. The general label rule allows vehicles that use the same engine and transmission and are in the same weight class to share fuel economy numbers, but it doesn't take into account other factors such as aerodynamic efficiency, which affects hybrids more drastically than non-hybrid vehicles. Ford originally used the Fusion Hybrid economy figures for the C-Max Hybrid and claimed the engineers didn't realize that its aerodynamic efficiency would affect fuel economy as much as it did.
Next-gen Ford Cobra Jet development underway, but will it be a Mustang?
Wed, 09 Oct 2013Ford might be stepping away from the NHRA, but it isn't abandoning drag racing altogether. Hot Rod says that Ford confirmed a next-gen Cobra Jet factory drag racer is in the works, but the report also speculates that a new Cobra Jet could switch away from the Mustang nameplate.
Even though talk of a new Cobra Jet coincides with the all-new 2015 Mustang, the lack of confirmation for the dragster's platform leaves Hot Rod to guess that the car might switch to another platform - specifically a front-drive-based, unibody car like the Fusion or Taurus. We'd hate to think of a world with a NASCAR-ized dragster from Ford Racing, but it's also highly unlikely that the Mustang Cobra Jet would step away from its quarter-mile rivals like the Chevy COPO Camaro and Dodge Challenger Drag Pak.
This Or That: Fiat 500 Abarth vs. Ford Fiesta ST [w/poll]

They're pretty darn similar. And yet our views are oh so different.
If you guys could read the transcripts of our editors' chat room, you'd know that we're a pretty argumentative bunch. It's always good-spirited stuff (well, usually), but when we're not obsessively covering this or that, we're usually fighting about one car being better than another. We're all enthusiasts here, and our automotive tastes run the gamut from the weird and unusual to the decidedly mainstream - we all feel strongly about specific cars in a given segment. While it usually makes for good conversation, if we're passionate enough, it can turn into a tomato-throwing showdown.
