you don’t have to buy it! Please see the material in blue print
at the end of this description for the full details of our Buyer Satisfaction policy. Now to the details on this show-quality
Thunderbird.
1957 Thunderbird: Frame-off Restoration
This
1957 Thunderbird was restored to show quality condition by Thunderbirds USA for a former national president of the Antique Automobile Club of America. No cost was spared, no corners were cut as
evidenced by it having achieved senior grand national status from the AACA and
CTCI’s gold medallion award. Our
customer/owner bought the Thunderbird from the AACA’s national president 14
years ago and has kept it in immaculate condition ever since. They don’t get any Nicer!
· Paint and Chrome
This triple red T-bird stands out from the crowd with
an excellent respray in the original Torch Red color. To say that it is “showroom fresh” would be
incorrect because the paint work done to show quality standards is far superior
to the original factory finish.
The chrome and stainless all look like new,
accentuating the exterior finish.
The top, also finished in Torch Red, appears
flawless. This Thunderbird does not have
a convertible top—a testament to the fact that the car has only seen nice
weather since its restoration.
The body and underside of the car are free of any
signs of corrosion.
Speaking of the underside, the car is exceedingly
clean—despite having been driven limitedly by the present owner—with every nut
and bolt either replaced or refurbished during its restoration. In keeping with its judging provenance, many
of the factory build markings are faithfully reproduced.
· Interior
The red vinyl seat upholstery was redone as original and
makes this “triple red” car particularly noticeable. The door panels and headliner have all been
restored to their original condition.
The padded dash is in excellent condition and free of
cracks. All of the engine/systems
monitoring gauges/warning lights (temperature, amp, fuel and oil pressure) work
properly. Similarly, the speedometer and
tachometer work, as does all of the safety equipment (lights, horn, etc.). The wipers work properly as does the clock,
but the AM radio will need some attention.
· Engine
The car’s 245 hp 312 cid V-8—is in excellent
condition. The engine starts right up
and runs well. It is nestled in a
fully-detailed engine bay.
· Transmission
The Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission works as it
should. The engine and transmission weep
a bit as is common for a vehicle from this era.
· Tires
Since much of the car was done to allow it to be
exhibited at car shows, the nearly new 7.50 x 14 wide whitewall Goodyear tires
are bias ply—as original—with very little use since new. (The spare has never
been on the pavement.)

An Excellent Example of one of
Ford’s Most Popular and Collectible Cars
Finding
a 1957 Thunderbird in this condition is hard enough, but finding one that was
restored to the exacting standards of the head of the national AACA for show
purposes is almost unheard of. Add to
that the fact that this one is priced a third lower than several that just sold
at national auctions. These cars are
highly in demand and therefore represent not just a great driving experience
but a sound investment as well.

2013 Shelby GT350
Fri, 31 May 2013Shelby is a name as synonymous with the Ford Mustang as marshmallows are with campfires. But unlike the short-lived sugary confection that is prepared on a stick, the late Carroll Shelby's name on the placard means added performance and exclusivity. Launched in 1965, the automaker's celebrated early cars were in production for a limited run - today, a mint concours-quality 1965 Shelby GT350 can sell for upwards of $350,000.
To coincide with the 45th anniversary of the original Shelby GT350, Shelby American reintroduced the GT350 in 2011. Like the original, it was only offered in white with blue stripes. Customers were offered a choice between naturally aspirated (440 horsepower) and two levels of supercharging (525 horsepower with a warranty or 624 horsepower without). The manufacturer calls the GT350 a "post-title" package, a term that means it starts out life as a stock Mustang and is modified outside Ford's factory (this is in contrast to the Shelby GT500, which is a standard Ford production car).
As the GT350 enters its third year, Shelby has made several changes. Mechanically, Wilwood brakes replace Baer units and Recaro seats and a tinted glass roof are on the options list. Cosmetically, the vehicle is now offered in most of the Blue Oval's factory colors, new multispoke wheels are available in Satin Black or Bright Silver Metallic finish, and customers can choose between Satin Black, Silver or Gloss White stripes (or Azure Blue Metallic on Performance White or Ingot Silver). Aesthetically, the look of the car has also changed somewhat - keen eyes will note that it actually appears more 'stock' than it did last year.
MyFord Touch getting second update, extended warranty
Wed, 28 Nov 2012There is no doubt that Ford has had its hands full fielding complaints with its MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch systems these days, but looking to keep its customers happy, Ford is once again upgrading its infotainment systems and extending the warranties. Despite having just sent out updates for its systems back in March, Automotive News says that customers are still complaining about the speed and ease of use.
Vehicles with MyFord Touch will now get a five-year, unlimited-mile warranty, while the MyLincoln Touch will have a six-year, unlimited-mile warranty. Previously, the systems were covered under basic warranties (three-year, 36,000-mile for Ford and four-year, 60,000-miles for Lincoln).
What is being referred to as "version 3.5" for the MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch systems will be mailed out (or downloaded) next month for owners of cars without navigation and in January for cars with nav. Owners of hybrids, plug-ins and electric vehicles will get the update sometime in the first quarter of next year.
Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list
Tue, 09 Jul 2013The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.
