2006 Ford Ranger 4 X 4 Supercab 4.0l Automatic on 2040-cars
Pueblo, Colorado, United States
2006 Ford Ranger XLT super cab 4 x 4 automatic 4.0L with power locks, mirrors, and windows, sliding rear window, air conditioning, and cruise control.
This truck started out as a 2001. I bought it back in 04 and loved it. When it started getting old and tired. I found a really nice wrecked loaded 2006 with nice wheels and good tires. I lifted the cab off of the 01 and put it on the frame, suspension, drivetrain, and motor of the 06. Then I changed out all the interior to the 06. So the cab, doors, fenders, hood, grill, bumpers and title are 2001 everything else, all the mechanical, suspension, electrical, interior, and side view mirrors (the new model mirrors were larger and so much nicer) are 2006 with 101k. I drove it for about 6 months as is with the primer. But I got busy and never got around to finishing it. The top of the cab had started to peel so I took it down to metal and shot it with epoxy. The front end had some wind damage so I sanded it all out and primered it and I took out all the little dings and dents that happened over the years to cherry it out. All the body work has been completed and the final coat of primer is ready to be sanded along with the rest of the truck and then painted. I was going to do a three stage using the original white as the base so I didn't have to jam it and one of the nice pearls on new vehicles. It is a great truck with lots of power and a great deal for a person looking to get some sweat equity and possible a custom paint job. Clean title. I included a picture of the sticker on the motor showing its manufacture date. |

2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid recalled over lack of roof padding
Mon, 29 Jul 2013Ford is recalling 33,021 units of its 2013 C-Max Hybrid not equipped with optional panoramic roof panels. During testing, the model in question returned testing results for occupant head injuries that fell outside of criteria laid out in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. The issue puts occupants at greater risk of injury in the event of a crash if they are in an affected car.
The recall will begin August 19, at which time C-Max Hybrid owners can take their cars to dealers to have energy-absorbent material installed between the headliner and roof. The bulletin below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has more information.
Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
How Ford's light lab keeps the sun shining on the new Mustang just right [w/video]
Thu, 02 Jan 2014Anyone who's bought one of those old school metal shift knobs knows they're really cool until they sit in a parking lot in the sun for a few hours. Then they're not cool at all. Likewise, features such as the aluminum dash on the 2015 Ford Mustang can be all kinds of neat right up until the sun hits it just the right way and sends shards of blinding light through the cabin. The Ford Visual Performance and Evaluation Lab is where engineers figure out how to make sure that doesn't happen.
Cars like said Mustang are parked inside the 30-foot reflecting dome under 6,000 watts of lights that can mimic the sun at any time of day and in any weather condition. Engineers can then spend cold, overcast days inside, testing for interior legibility, glare and reflections on every interior and exterior surface as if it were bright and sunny. They can also learn how a car's sheetmetal and colors will look out of doors, all year round.
Ford showed off the lighting lab without the music and interviews three years ago when the Explorer was being prepared. You can watch it at work again in the video below, and read about it in the press release below that.
