1964 Ford Ranchero, engine & trans removed --- west coast car, not rotted.
**The Story** This 64 Ranchero was driven frequently until about 1 year ago when the 302 V8 blew a head gasket. It has been parked ever since. The engine was recently removed for a rebuild, but it turns out to be non-salvageable. The C4 transmission was subsequently sold separately, and we are now selling the rolling chassis. **Condition** While the paint definitely needs some TLC, the panels line up quite well, and are pretty straight. No serious accident damage beyond small dings and a dent (shown in the pics). There is some surface rust in the usual spots, but the only place that appears to be weakened is the floor pan area behind the seats. The rest of the car is solid, and the undercarriage is quite clean. This car has drum brakes all around, and a manual steering rack. George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]
Sun, 20 Jan 2013Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.

Ford forced to recall Escape over fire risk yet again
Tue, 26 Nov 2013Recalls happen. Automakers hope they won't, but they do. And that's alright, for the most part, because cars are designed (and to a large degree still made) by humans, and humans make mistakes. So we forgive them, as long as the problem is resolved. Only in the case of the Ford Escape, the problem seems to keep coming back.
That's why Ford is calling in the Escape yet again due to fire concerns. The issue revolves around problematic fuel lines in 9,469 units manufactured between October 5, 2011, and July 11, 2012, all of which use the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine.
As you yourself may recall, the Escape was subject to a string of recalls last year that resulted in a $17 million fine. One of them was over this very same issue, which Ford apparently didn't rectify the first time around. Let's hope this time is the last time.
