1958 Ford Ranchero Deluxe on 2040-cars
Danville, Kentucky, United States
This vehicle is powered by, I believe, the original 292 Y block V8 with a Ford Autolite 4V carburetor and dual
exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. It starts instantly and runs very nice. The transmission is the cast iron 3 speed
cruiseomatic and the rear is the indestructible Ford 9" . It also has power steering, which has just recently had
the control valve and cylinder rebuilt, and power drum brakes. I also just replaced the alternator.
The chrome including bumpers, emblems, trim, and door handles are excellent. The front bumper was replaced shortly
after I received the car due to an incident which happened during transporting the car to me, and at the same time
both turn signal surrounds were slightly creased, which is visible in the 7th and 8th photos. I did purchase a very
nice pair to have rechromed and replace them, but then decided not to, because the slight damage is not real
noticeable. I will include the two extra ones with the car, and also I have a new complete set of the gold anodized
aluminum side inserts that will come with the car. They probably were not available at time of restoration. All
the stainless steel trim has been polished. The 15 X 6" front and 15X8" American polished 5 spokes are very nice.
Tires are like new 215/65 front and 255/60 rear. The windshield and two side windows appear to have been replaced,
and in excellent condition. The rear window is excellent and original with the Ford script, and the vent widows are
also original, but have some bubbling around the edges.
The beautiful interior was professionally redone just before I purchased it. The newly upholstered power seat is
from a later model Ford Crown Victoria and fits like it belongs there. I believe the white surfaces of the seat is
leather. last year I restored the original steering wheel, and the speedometer cluster. It has an amplified after
market sound system, which can blow your ears out, which was installed in 2013 with receipts for over $400.00, but
the stock Ford AM radio is not a functional unit

Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams
Sun, 11 Aug 2013As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.
Galpin Ford GTR1 supercar debuts in Monterey
Fri, 16 Aug 2013Galpin Auto Sports has finally taken the wraps off the car we first previewed back in December, the Galpin Ford GTR1. A few weeks ago, we posted the first hints of just what the GTR1 would be capable of, with Galpin teasing that its 5.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 would produce in excess of 1000 horsepower, with a top speed of 225 miles per hour. Package all that in a coachbuilt body, and you have the recipe for one wicked supercar.
The price for the carbon fiber-bodied car is $1,024,000.
Now, we have all the glorious details. Galpin is targeting a production run of six cars, but if interest is strong enough, will expand its initial quote to 24 vehicles. The price for the carbon fiber-bodied car is $1,024,000. Opting for the aluminum bodywork could lower that, although it's not immediately clear by how much.
First 1K next-gen Mustangs to carry 2014 1/2 model year?
Thu, 18 Jul 2013A new report from Mustangs Daily, citing insider sources at Ford, tells us that the Blue Oval will produce 1,000 next-generation Mustangs with the model year designation of 2014 ½, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the storied marque. The commemorative half-year designation is a rumor that's been swirling in Mustang forums for quite some time now, and seems more plausible than ever with this most recent report. Certainly it's not far-fetched to believe that Ford will want to make a big deal of the golden anniversary for its most-loved model.
The story (compiled by Drew Phillips, who runs the aforementioned Mustang site when he's not directing the photography on these pages) goes on to say that the limited-run cars will be the first built on the new Mustang platform internally known as S550 (and spied testing in the attached gallery). Each car is said to carry a "special" VIN and build number, though no performance upgrades versus the 2015 cars to follow are in the works. A collector's dream then, rather than a weekend racer's.
