1994 Ford Probe Gt 2.5l V6 on 2040-cars
Brookston, Indiana, United States
This Ford Probe GT is an good candidate for restoration or performance modifications. This car had been an excellent all-around cruiser; especially on the highway. It is an original, stock GT that has mostly highway driven miles, but now needs some attention to a few non-major mechanical/electrical items; such as a need for a new throttle position sensor and possible cleaning of the EGR valve to improve the performance of the car. Items that have been replaced on the car as part of normal maintenance are as follows: Both front axle half shafts and CV boots; Exhaust system; Front brakes-rotors in good shape; could use left rear rotor and rear brake service. Tires (not recently new, but in good shape); Distributor; with recent modification to a remote HEI ignition module. Front and rear struts; tie rod ends; ball joints; stabilizer links; Mass Air flow sensor; Alternator; Spark plugs and wires; O2 (oxygen) sensors. Items needing attention or replacement:Throttle position sensor, Battery and battery cables, AC recharge (compressor works fine), Driver's seat forward/backward control (all other power seat controls work fine; such as bolster adjustment, seat raise/lower and tilt). The body does have some blemishes, weatherstrip aging and some clear coat peeling on the driver's door, but looks good overall. Lower driver's door plastic trim has a minor vertical crack. The original aluminum wheels have been refinished. I am the second owner and purchased the car in Fort Wayne, Indiana. These Ford Probe GT's are sporty, good-looking cars with a unique design. I have the title with the car. The car must be picked up within 1 week; I will not deliver. Full payment required through PayPal or certified bank check in person at time of pickup. WIthin 48 hours, contact me at rvstirm@gte.net. (Randy). Thanks for bidding! |

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
What next for Alan Mulally?
Wed, 23 Apr 2014Alan Mulally has emerged as a hero when it comes to American manufacturing. He came to Ford in 2006 after serving as head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, streamlined operations, sold off the costly elements of its Premier Automotive Group and saved Ford from having to be bailed out by the federal government like its cross-town rivals Chrysler and General Motors did. But as we reported mere days ago, he's widely expected to step down from the chief executive's office at Ford shortly.
So what's next for one of the most successful executives in the business? Hard to say, but don't expect Mulally to disappear into retirement. Though he didn't ultimately take the top job at Microsoft, industry insiders expect to see him in another influential position - likely as a board director or even chairman of another company. (We say "another company" and not Ford because while Bill Ford may have stepped aside as CEO to bring Mulally on board in the first place, we don't see him giving up his chairmanship of the board also.)
Mulally has likely already lined up his next move, and could either announce what that move will be as soon as Ford confirms Mark Fields as his successor, or could wait awhile. Insiders speculate that he could leverage his transportation and aerospace experience into a position at General Electric or a major airline, his manufacturing expertise to benefit a company like Procter & Gamble or his management skills at a consultancy firm.
Production Ford Escort heading for Beijing
Wed, 16 Apr 2014Ford's long-dormant Escort nameplate returned affixed to a sedan concept at last year's Shanghai Motor Show. While not exactly a beauty, it showed a clean, straightforward take on Ford's current styling. The Blue Oval said at the time that it wanted to create a model that was stylish "but not one that is arrogant or pretentious." Job done. A year later, it looks like the minimalist vehicle might make its production debut at the Beijing Motor Show.
Autocar claims that the streetgoing version has been confirmed to it for the upcoming show, but so far, Ford isn't saying. If unveiled, the Escort is likely to be produced locally for the Chinese market with a domestic partner. Powertrain details remain a secret, but it seems highly likely that any production model would use a small three- or four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. Sales in other major world markets like ours are unlikely, but a test car was recently spotted in Europe.
Autoblog contacted Ford for confirmation, but the automaker demurred, with a spokesperson saying only, "At the moment, we are not confirming any vehicles planned for the show." It looks like we will have to wait to know for sure.
