Little Compton, Rhode Island, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Drive Type: standard shift
Make: Ford
Mileage: 199,000
Model: Other Pickups
Trim: original
1948 Ford 1/2 ton, pick up truck in project condition. All complete, wrong bed.
6 cylinder motor cranks but does not start. As the truck has been sitting for some time, I strongly suspect a couple of stuck valves.
Body condition: Passenger front fender has much fiberglass and bondo, crudely repaired. Driver's front fender has rot at top center and at the point where it attaches to the running board.
Both doors close well, no sag, hinges good. Passenger door is solid, driver's door is separating at the bottom.
Running boards are in OK shape
All glass is good. All door hardware, dash components are present.
Door posts are good, floor rotted out at gas pedal attachment point. Small rot holde on passenger's side floor. Most of floors are good.
Rot over windshield, particularly inside the cab.
Rotted our bottom of dash board.
Frame is solid, not rotted
Very nice front grill, parking lights
original key in ignition
Clearly this is a project but it is priced right. Here's a great opportunity to get a very popular early Ford truck.
Deposit of $250 required through PayPal at end of auction. Balance due within 48 hours. Buyer responsible for pick up and transport of vehicle. No title is available only a bill of sale. I do have a few remnants of an old registration.

Ford taken to task by gov't for Chicken Tax end-around
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Ford is in a bit of a pickle for importing and selling Turkey-built Transit Connect cargo vans as passenger vehicles in the US, then converting them to commercial-vehicle specification stateside in an effort to bypass a 25-percent tax imposed on vehicles imported for commercial use. Automakers are required to pay a 2.5-percent tax on imported passenger vehicles.
The Blue Oval got into trouble for this in a January ruling in which U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials asked Ford to stop the practice of importing the Transit Connect vehicles with passenger seats, then removing and shredding them. Now Automotive News reports that Ford is appealing the ruling. The 25-percent "Chicken Tax," as the tariff is often called, is 50 years old and was enacted as a response to a German tariff on chickens. Like Ford, Chrysler bypasses the higher tariff, but it does so in a different manner. It partially disassembles Sprinter cargo vans before shipping them to the US, then rebuilds them at a plant in South Carolina.
But the ruling against Ford's strategy states that it "serves no manufacturing or commercial purpose" and is there to "manipulate the tariff schedule," Automotive News reports. As Ford's appeal goes through, it is importing the Transit Connect and paying the higher tax, hoping for a favorable outcome and planning to build the next-generation Transit Connect, which it plans to launch before the end of the year, in Spain.
Mulally confirms he's not leaving Ford for Microsoft
Tue, 07 Jan 2014In recent months, rumors had been flying about Ford CEO Alan Mulally potentially leaving the company to take a position at Microsoft. Last we heard, Mulally was planning to stick around at Ford through at least 2014, and in an interview today, that bit was confirmed by the CEO himself.
According to the Associated Press, in a report from The Detroit News, Mulally said he will not be leaving Ford for Microsoft, and reiterated that he will remain at the Blue Oval through 2014, if not longer. Mulally has "no plans other than to serve Ford," according to the report.
Mulally did not say whether or not he had been in talks with Microsoft at any point. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said he plans to leave the software company sometime this year.
Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California
Wed, 31 Jul 2013In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.
