Up for auction is a 1938 Ford truck, running and in great condition! This truck has a clear title. I have tried to be as detailed as possible in the description:

Chassis:
This truck started with a 1938 Ford 1/2 ton chassis. The front axle is stock with a Posie reverse eye spring.
There is a new set of drums, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, rubber lines and a hardware kit for a 1953-60 F-100.
The rear is a 1971 Ford truck 9 inch rear end. It also has new drums, brake shoes and wheel cylinders.
The third member was washed and checked along with the axle bearings.
The rear is mounted with a 1935-48 parallel Leaf spring kit from TCI.
The brake pedal assembly is a manual assembly with a double master cylinder from Speedway Motors.
New metal lines all the way.
The steering wheel and column are rebuilt from a 1946 Ford.
All four tie rod ends are new.

Tires & Wheels:
The front wheels are early Ford 4"X16" with new 6.00-16 Lester tires.
The rear wheels are Ford 7"X16" with 235/80/R16 tires.

Motor:
The motor is a 4-bolt man 350 out of a 1977 Chevy.
It has been bored 0.30 over, heads ported and polished; 202 valves, crank, pushrods, rods, and pistons are new.
The motor is built to a 383 Stroker with an OffenHauser 360 intake.
It has a 4 barrel Deamon carburetor, a stock HEI distributor, stock water pump, Billet pullys, chrome engine kit.
The exhaust manifolds are from a 1956 265 Chevy.
The 4-blade cooling fan is from a 1966 283 Chevy.
It is mounted with a front mount from Speedway Motors.

Transmission:
The transmission is also from the same 1977 Chevy, it is a turbo 350 stock rebuild, and has a 1500 stall converter.

Fuel System:
The gas tank is a 1940 polytank new from Speedway Motors.
It has new fuel lines and a 4-8 pound electric fuel pump from Car Quest.

The radiator is an old Walker setup for a small block Chevy. It has a patch on it (pictured) but it was checked, boiled out, and fixed by a local radiator shop.
The truck never runs over 180, and only does that in traffic.
Oil pressure is never below 40 pounds.

Body:
The cab is a 1938 Ford; uncut and 90% rust-free. The rust there is in the bottom of the doors. (pictured)
Windshield crank is fully operational.
The glass is all new except for the passenger door glass.
After market gauges were added under the dash for accurate readings.
The shifter is a B&M 15 inch.
The bed is a 1954 Ford box, shortened 6 inches, with a 1948-52 Ford tailgate and a treated cedar floor.
The grill is an original 1937 Ford grill, some of the bars have been repaired and replaced.
The headlights are very different. (never seen any like it)
The tail lights are from a 1947-53 Chevy; chrome with blue dot lenses.

Everything on this 1938 Ford pickup, with the exception of the front axle, cab, bed, and frame, is either new or rebuilt.
The truck was driven recently on a 400 mile round trip to the Atomic Blast 2 in Gulfport, MS.

Amelia Island 2013: 50 years of the Ferrari-slaying Ford GT40

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Originally developed with the sole purpose of being a Ferrari rival to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ford GT40 became a prominent racing machine in the 1960s in both Europe and the US. Not wanting to leave such an important car out of the fun, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance also took time out from its other celebrations to recognize the 50-year anniversary of the GT40.
Over its short lifespan, the GT40 was offered in a handful of configurations, but the classic short-tailed (Mk I and Mk II) bodystyles were well represented... especially in Gulf livery. James Glickenhaus (of Ferrari P4/5 fame) had his bright yellow Mk IV in the field, and there were several others in this bodystyle, including one that has seen plenty of time on the track judging by its chipped-up nose.
As a fitting statement for the car's lengthy racing history, GT40 Chassis Number 1075 won this year's Concours de Sport award. This car took home the checkered flag at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969, and racked up a total of six wins in just 11 races.

Ford Transit Skyliner Concept does discreet luxury in NYC

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

There's something to be said for luxed-out vans. They're cool, and as a means of getting chauffeured about, they're extremely comfortable and far more low key than your typical executive luxury sedan. For the 2014 New York Auto Show, Galpin Auto Sports has shown the potential of the new-for-the-US Ford Transit as an ultra-luxurious people hauler.
The Transit Skyliner Concept, which we previewed last week, sports four finely crafted captain's buckets that can be moved into different formations based on need. Want to watch a movie? The seats can be swung around to face a 52-inch screen. Riding along with some business associates? A table can be popped up. There's even a configuration for tailgating.
The materials are, unsurprisingly, pretty plush. The leather seats and wood floors (yes, wood floors in a van) look great, while the trunk and its customized luggage are a nice touch, as well.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
