They say anything can be rebuilt.well maybe.. I bought this for parts for a project that Im working on. I removed the Instrument controls ( wiper switch, lite switch, lighter, pedal assembly, engine & trany.). the rest is up for sale. the car is in bad shape when I jacked it up I almost broke it! the frame rails are shot. floor pans are rusted bad. it would take a LOT to rebuild. but there are many useable parts here. including all glass, window regulators, wiring, I unplugged the switches I took out did not cut anything, but did take the harness from wiper switch to wiper motor. the car according to numbers was a 6 cyl. but it had a V-8 in it which I removed. some one must have converted it to V-8 before, it still has 8cyl frame mounts, accerlator linkage, and all 5 lug suspension, including the spindles, and steering linkage. car still retains a good steering column and gear box. I am running this as a NO RESERVE auction so high bid wins. would prefer full payment via paypal. within 7 days. or cash on pick-up if earlier. either way would like a deposit of 150.00 in 48 hrs.   the car dose come with a title that matches fender stampings and door tag.... BUT READ CLOSLEY

THE CAR WAS LAST TITLED IN NOV. 1994, THEN SOLD OR TRADED TO A DEALED IN JUNE 1995, THEN REASSIGNED TO ANOTHER DEALER DEC. 1996, THAT DEALER SIGNED OFF ON IT AND LEFT THE PURCHASER NAME OPEN.   IT IS A FLORIDA TITLE......

door tag reads as follows. body 65A, color A, trim 25, date 27R, dso 33, axle 3, trans 1.

please look at pictures closely. what you see is what you  get. I strongly believe this is a parts car, but that's strickly up to winner. winning bid is selling price. there is no buy-it-now

will answer any questions I can but be reasonable, I don't expect a lot for thiscar so I don't expect to lay under it and take pictures of the rust..   thanks and good luck bidding    8 inch rearend..

have had a couple people ask about a two wheel dolley to transport  the car, I would strongly urge the winner to use a trailer. look closely at picture # 12, I think it would be dangerous to try to pull car with that much force on the front end, as the fender would be holding car together. when I picked it up it wasn't that bad as I believe the engine & trany was acting as a 3 point brace for the car...   also YES the bucket seats are both passenger seats!!! I don't know what previous owner was thinking there!!!!!

On Oct-11-13 at 13:41:03 PDT, seller added the following information:

I WANT TO ADD DETAILS. I answered a question about the dash pad incorrectly. the dash pad is black but appears to have been either painted or dyed. If you look through windshield  down at pad you can see red where it appears the sun faded it.. it is not cracked or warped, but it does have a 1/2 crack on drivers side where the chrome trim under pad ends next to window pillar

On Oct-11-13 at 13:49:44 PDT, seller added the following information:

one final note.... theres always last minute questions. auction ends sunday around 4pm my time. We will be gone on sunday from around 1pm till approx. 7pm. will not be able to answer any last minute questions... I  wont even know what it sold for till I get home sunday evening...

Reflecting on the Ford GT on its 10-year anniversary

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

Ten years ago, during the bright-eyed enthusiasm of the early 2000s and before the collective automotive industry did its best Titanic impression, we had the Ford GT. An everyman's supercar like there'd never been (remember, this was before 638-horsepower Corvettes were a thing), the GT arrived with a supercharged, 5.4-liter V8 that produced 550 horsepower and graced this retro-styled rocket with an easy, sub-four-second sprint to 60 miles per hour.
Equal to the GT's performance were its looks. Inspired by the GT40 racers that dominated Le Mans and bested Ferrari in the 1960s, the sleek, low, almost-reptilian look of the GT was the absolute pinnacle of the retro styling that so defined the early 2000s.
Crank and Piston put together a video celebrating the ten-year-old GT, arguing that Ford is a bit too busy with the next-gen Mustang, which turns 50 next week, to do it themselves. In the short clip, there is gratuitous engine noise and supercharger whine, not to mention scenes of the white-on-red GT prowling the deserts and streets of Dubai. It's a bit short, but very nicely shot. Scroll down, have a look and be sure to turn up those speakers before getting started.

Ford to update Sync, MyFord Touch software... again

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

Ford hasn't had the best luck with its MyFord Touch and Sync systems, as the finicky infotainment system has been subject to a critical whooping while customer issues have helped sink Ford's IQS scores. The automaker has made a concerted effort, though, to try and fix MyFord Touch. And while the results have been mixed, The Blue Oval is hoping its latest free update, set to go live next week, will make things better.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the new system promises streamlined voice commands with fewer levels between opening query and actual result. Ford is also addressing where certain options are selected on the touchscreen. Rather than working one of the four quadrants on the homescreen, users will be able to select anywhere within the quadrant to make adjustments.
While it might only be a band-aid for MFT's problems, the fact that Ford is still trying to improve it is a promising sign. It's going to take more than just this update to address the system's ills, though.

Jay Leno is far beyond driven in his 1971 Pantera

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

Perhaps it's fitting that the band Pantera is known for its heavy metal music, because the DeTomaso Pantera is the automotive equivalent of a metal album. It's short, aggressive and makes a mean sound. It doesn't mess around either, with a Ford 351-cubic-inch (5.75-liter) V8 sending mountains of torque to the rear wheels. This week, Jay Leno takes us on a detailed tour of his '71 to show why it rocks.
There's a regular format to Jay Leno's Garage. It starts with Jay and maybe a guest taking a look at the car and talking about its history, and then they take it out on the open road. However, this video is practically a Pantera buyer's guide. Jay is adamant from the start that the last thing anyone should own is a stock example. To remedy this, he and his guest, the editor of the Pantera Club magazine, take viewers to school about some of the ways to turn them into even better performance machines.
No matter what you do to it, though, the Pantera requires that the driver adapt to it, not the other way around. For example, Jay isn't a big guy by most standards, but he has to cram himself into the cockpit with his shoes off and shirt partially unbuttoned just to go for a drive. Still, once out on the road, it all makes sense with that rumbling V8 and those Italian supercar looks. Scroll down to watch and learn a lot more about this uncompromising '70s performance car.
