2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR 40th Anniversary
In 1967 Carroll Shelby introduced the first GT500 Mustang. Forty one years later, touting a 5.4L V8 engine capable of producing 540 hp, the modern day GT500 is a reminder of everything good in a Shelby Mustang. This is no ordinary Mustang. It’s number 887 out of only 1,000 made. There’s the leather-wrapped steering wheel, a one of a kind shifter knob, Brembo brakes and an extremely firm clutch. This car offers a 2.73:1 rear axle gear radio, Ford racing performance exhaust system, 20” “GT500KR” Shelby designed wheels and front brake cooling ducts. It is also decorated with a carbon composite hood featuring a classic Shelby GT500KR design and 40th anniversary badges on the front quarter panels. The 2008 Shelby GT500 is one of the most powerful Mustangs. The car is fast, no doubt about it. With a 5.4L supercharged V8 engine under its hood, this car can do 0-60 mph in a quick 4.5 seconds. When you sit behind the wheel of a Shelby GT500 Mustang you feel powerful. The car emits a powerful vibe. Maybe it’s the ever present view out the front window of the GT500’s bulky hood, complete with air extractors or maybe it’s the whine of the screw-type supercharger every time you step on the gas. The car feels powerful. The GT500’s seats feature red leather inserts, complete with the famous cobra stitched onto the front seat backs. You’ll also find a cobra logo in the middle of the leather-wrapped steering wheel. There is a boost gauge which replaces the standard voltmeter gauge in the instrument panel. This car includes ambient interior lighting, electro-chromatic rear view mirror and aluminum pedal covers. Hands down, the best part of driving the car is the looks people give you. Young and old, all types admired the torch red car at stop lights. Who should buy the 2008 Shelby GT500 KR Mustang:

NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe
Mon, 17 Dec 2012According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost already hitting 12-second quarters
Sun, 28 Sep 2014The arrival of a new Ford Mustang means many things to many people, but not least of them is drag racers. The pony car has always been a mainstay of the drag strip, and the Ford Racing team aims to carry that reputation forward with this latest generation. So it cooked up a few basic modifications on three new 'Stangs and headed to the strips at US 131 and Milan Dragway to see what they could coax out of 'em.
Impressively, the 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT with a few modifications (but no forced induction) managed to clock a quarter-mile time of 11.77 seconds. Another Mustang GT fitted with a supercharger clocked a blistering 10.97 seconds. But just as intriguing was the modified EcoBoost model that, with only four cylinders and 2.3 liters of displacement, still passed the gates in just 12.56 seconds - nearly half a second better than expected. This with modification limited to a new subframe, half-shaft, drive shaft loops, exhaust, engine calibration, slicks, roll cage and bucket seat. Well done, boys.
Watch NASCAR racer Brad Keselowski do a burnout... in a hotel conference room
Fri, 08 Mar 2013A vast majority of hotels frown upon smoking inside the building these days, but Brad Keselowski doesn't follow the rules. During his introduction at the 2013 MiilerCoors Distribution Convention, the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion smoked the tires of his Miller-sponsored Ford Fusion stock car, adding a pair of thick, black stripes to the carpeting of the Marriott World Center's conference room.
This definitely isn't a high-quality video, but it's the perfect vantage point to watch Keselowski lay down some rubber and receive a well-deserved standing ovation after pulling up in front of the crowd. Check out the short-but-sweet video posted below.
