2007 FORD MUSTANG PARNELLI JONES/SALEEN 302, driven only 320 miles. This vehicle is the modern day replica of the 1970 SCCA Ford Mustang driven by Indy 500 winner Parnelli Jones. This car has been carefully designed and engineered to produce over 400 HP from the Saleen factory and the details are listed below. This is a one owner car. I bought this car new and it has been meticulously cared for. It is driven periodically and remains in my temperature controlled garage. As one of only 500 cars produced to honor legendary Indianapolis 500 winner Parnelli Jones, this spotless serial number 61 Parnelli Jones 302 is perhaps Saleens coolest creation. According to Steve Saleen, the Parnelli Jones 302 was designed to capture the raw, aggressive attitude with which Parnelli raced. This is a Show Room new car, the paint looks simply amazing and has barely even seen sunlight, and no rain. Fit and finish is exceptional, thanks to the largely hand-built nature of the custom Saleen add-ons. And despite performing everyday tasks as flawlessly as a stock Mustang, the car has been completely re-envisioned to incorporate many features which recall the glory days of Trans Am racing. Lift Parnelli Jones Serial Number 61's custom shaker hood and you'll find a clean and crisp new 302 cubic inch Saleen built SOHC three valve V8 which produces an SAE certified 400 horsepower and 390 lb./ft. of torque. The engine has forged aluminum pistons, forged aluminum heads and forged aluminum flywheel. Forged steel connecting rods and Saleen high performance cam complete the top end. Saleen PowerFlash Performance Calibration optimizes power output. Additional features include Saleen Power Pulleys, 2.5 inch stainless steel dual exhaust, Saleen 8.8 inch rear differential with 3.73:1 gear, Functional Saleen Aluminum shaker hood and scoop with high performance air box, 5 speed close ratio Tremec transmission, Saleen Racecraft suspension system with Watts Link competition rear axle stabilization, N2 shocks and struts, Front Mcpherson strut with lower control arm, Saleen specific rate front and rear springs, Saleen 14 inch slotted and vented front disk brakes with 4 piston calipers. In keeping with both Steve Saleen and Parnelli Jones race ancestry, this limited edition Mustang was designed utilizing Saleen's own precision suspension. Behind the small block engine, a rugged Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, Saleen Racecraft suspension system with Watts Link competition rear axle stabilization, N2 shocks and struts, Front Mcpherson strut with lower control arm, Saleen specific rate front and rear springs, Saleen 14 inch slotted and vented front disk brakes with 4 piston calipers. Saleen 19" Mini-lite style racing wheels feature cool Saleen/Parnelli Jones center caps and wear red labeled 275/35 front and 275/40 rear Pirelli P-Zero performance radials. All aero package including 1970 replica wing. Rear window louvers, two tone leather seats. Saleen gauge clusters and signed dashboard by Parnelli Jones and Steve Saleen. This is a well balanced, well built Mustang and can easily be upgraded. It drives and handles very well. Saleen makes the Ford interior its own with leather upholstery and plenty of signage. This Parnelli Jones 302 is the ultimate Saleen when it comes to total driving experience, and with only 310 miles of drive time, it's an essentially brand new piece of Mustang and Saleen history. Complete with serialized Posters and 5 national magazine articals that featured this car. It is as clean on the bottom as it is on the top. Please call 541-480-3417 for details and more pictures. . MSRP $60,800. Asking only $44,000. |

Ford adds 850 jobs to build 2015 F-150
Tue, 14 Oct 2014Pickup trucks tend not to advance at quite the same pace as the rest of the industry. That's what makes the new Ford F-150 so remarkable, jettisoning its old steel construction in favor of aluminum. It's a game changer that Ford is betting big on, and in anticipation of surging demand, the Blue Oval automaker is adding 850 new jobs to put the thing together.
Those 850 new employees will be centered at Ford's Rouge complex in Michigan - with 300 at Dearborn Stamping, 50 more at Dearborn Diversified and 500 at the Dearborn Truck facility, the latter of which has already kicked off what Ford describes as "the largest manufacturing transformation in decades." Old manufacturing equipment is being replaced with the latest technologies, and even the Ford Rouge Factory Tour is undergoing a complete overhaul.
The new jobs come as part of the commitments Ford made to the UAW in 2011 to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the United States by 2015 - a number which Ford has already exceeded at 14,000. Over 4,000 of those are centered in southeastern Michigan.
Truckmakers squabbling over who can sell Jimmy Fallon a pickup
Sat, 08 Mar 2014Snagging a celebrity endorsement is a big deal for automakers, as evidenced by the recent efforts of the Detroit Three to try and woo The Tonight Show's newest host, Jimmy Fallon, into one of their trucks.
After announcing during Wednesday night's show that he was in the market for a pickup truck, Fallon set off a firestorm of efforts on Twitter, with both Ford and Chevrolet petitioning the funnyman to test out a truck. According to Ad Age, Ford recommended the King Ranch edition of its next-generation F-150 while the show was still airing. Chevy, meanwhile, waited until the next morning to pitch a Silverado to Fallon.
The winner of this social media feeding frenzy, though, was Ram. Promoting a variation of its "Guts, Glory, Ram" tagline, the Auburn Hills-based manufacturer created the hashtag #GUTSGLORYFallon. It even went so far as to park a Ram 1500 outside 30 Rockefeller Center in New York, where The Tonight Show is filmed. On the back of the Ram sat a sign, reading "Big enough, Jimmy? Test it out," referencing a joke from the Wednesday show.
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.
