Very nice, well maintained, fun driving street/show car. I am the second owner and purchased the car in '07 from a dealer in Texas with 16,000 miles on it. The reflective Mach 1 stripes, Mach 1 trunk emblem, 20" Foose Nitrous wheels, Toyo Proxes ST tires, 3"exhaust with x-pipe, side window louvres, and front and rear spoilers were on the car before I got it. I've added a CDC functional ram air shaker hood scoop, C&L cold air intake with K&N filter, Granatelli 62mm throttle body, Bama custom tune, drilled and slotted brake rotors, push button start, MP3 jack, running horse logo floor mats and trunk mat, Eleanor style grill, hood struts and radiator extension covers. The hole in the hood to accommodate the shaker hood scoop was done by a local body shop. The hood was then painted matte black followed by satin clear coat. The same shop repainted the front and rear bumpers due to chips and dings and factory paint defects. All of this was done in the past 2 years. This past July I noticed unusual wear on the front passenger tire. I took it to a local Ford dealer and the caster and camber were out of adjustment. That was fixed and 2 new tires were put on the front. The rear tires still have good tread, so I didn't bother with replacing them. I've driven the car an average of 1,700 miles a year, never in snow or salt, rarely in the rain. I don't wash the car, I clean it with a detailing spray after every drive. I attend 2 mustang specific shows a year, I detail it extensively for the shows and have trophied in my class quite a few times. I received 196 out of 200 points this past Sept. at a show judged by the MCA standards. It's always garaged stored, never smoked in. I change the oil once a year using Mobil 1 synthetic. This is a very fun car to own, I get thumbs up everywhere I go and can't get gas without someone wanting to look at it and talk about it. I think it's safe to say you won't see another '06 like it anywhere! I'm still driving the car on nice weekends, so the mileage will go up slightly. The car is available for inspections in the evenings and weekends. The car is for sale locally, so I may end the auction early. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I will assist with whatever I can. 1964 Ford GT40 prototype to be auctioned in April

The Ford GT40 owns a firm spot on the list of the greatest American racecars ever made, being the first car from the United States to take an overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And now Mecum will auction what it claims is second-oldest GT40 still in existence at its Houston sale on April 12.
The story of the GT40 is fascinating. Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari in the early '60s, but Enzo refused. Ford decided if he couldn't have them, then he would beat the Prancing Horse on the track. Ford went to Carroll Shelby and asked him to spearhead the program. The early cars combined a steel monocoque chassis with Ford's 4.2-liter V8 engine pumping out around 350 horsepower. The first prototype made its public debuted on April 1, 1964, at the New York Auto Show.
Shelby kept building prototypes, including GT/104, which is for sale here. This version featured a lighter steel chassis and was raced at Le Mans in 1964. However, a fire forced it to retire. It was then repainted and had a 4.7-liter (289-cubic-inch) engine fitted. The chassis had its best finish at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometers where it finished third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther behind the wheel. Later that season, it was shipped back to Ford where it was restored and displayed at auto shows until 1971 when the automaker sold it. Since then, it has had many private owners.

How new car shortages may impact your buying experience

If you want further proof that the auto industry is bouncing back, look no further than the empty lots and forecourts of your local dealership. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, continued high demand for mainstream cars is overtaxing automakers' ability to produce enough models. Several dealers interviewed for the story are reporting two-week supplies as opposed to the typical two-month allocations.
With sales expected to hit 1.4 million units when August numbers arrive shortly and incentive spending down to its lowest amount since January, these limited supplies are pushing prices even higher. For example, according to the WSJ, the average price of a Ford Fusion is up past $26,000. Unfortunately, it's difficult for manufacturers to increase production quickly. If it invests in its facilities, as many manufacturers have done, it risks wasting cash if growth suddenly slows. At the same time, the momentum gained over the past several years could be short lived if vehicle supplies continue to dwindle. "Manufacturers are in a precarious situation," notes Karl Brauer, a senior director at Kelley Blue Book.
Low interest rates and a wealth of desirable features are also allowing customers to purchase more expensive vehicles while justifying their higher overall price tags, a situation that is compounding supply shortages. Even now, during the annual end-of-summer clearance season, deals on new vehicles are remarkably difficult to come by. According to the report, the Toyota Corolla is in a self-inflicted state of shortage, as Toyota clears out inventory in anticipation of the new 2014 generation arriving in dealers. Ford's supplies should rebound as Fusion production comes on line at its Flat Rock, Michigan factory. The Chevrolet Impala, Honda Odyssey, Civic, and Accord and Subaru Forester are also facing shortages.

2015 Galpin Ford GTR1

Last year in Monterey, we met GTR1 for the first time. Galpin Auto Sports pulled the wraps off its Ford GT-based supercar, powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.4-liter V8 good for a whopping 1,024 horsepower and 739 pound-feet of torque. The thing was totally custom-made and reportedly took some 12,000 man hours to create. And there it sat on the Pebble Beach grass, $1,000,000-plus price tag and all.
This year, the Galpin was back, albeit with one big change. That twin-turbo engine? Gone. In its place, a 5.4-liter V8 with a 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger bolted on, delivering an astonishing 1,058 hp and 992 lb-ft of torque on 110-octane fuel. 0-60? 2.9 seconds. Top speed? Somewhere above 225 miles per hour.
"Some things to keep in mind: no stability control, no traction control," were the only warnings given by Galpin's Brandon Boeckmann before taking me on a quick spin in the supercar. And after having my eyes thrown into the back of my skull a few times, laughing hysterically and trying to regain full use of my hearing after my ear drums being bombarded by the apocalyptic roar behind me, Brandon pulled over and said it was my turn, if I was ready to take the wheel.
