I am selling my Saleen that I have owned for almost 14 years now. It is car #85 of 113 S281 coupes produced in 1997. The reason I am selling is I just do not have time to give the attention the car needs. The car has 134,XXX miles and has never been in an accident. Have only used Mobil1 Synthetic oil and 93 octane fuel. In the past 3 years, when I have done most of the modifications, I have driven the vehicle maybe 2,500 miles. Here is a list of the modifications I have done.

- PI heads and intake manifold

- LT headers

- Flowmaster exhaust and custom piping

- One off custom hood

- SR Saleen wing

- Boyd Coddington 18x9/18x10 wheels

- Short throw shifter

- Smoked headlights

- Stage 3 cams

- Built Stage 3 T45 transmission

- King Cobra clutch

- 4.10 Ford Racing gears

- Eibach springs

- Custom blue paint job

I'm sure I missed a few more that I can't remember at the moment. Also have the factory hood and S281 wing if buyer wants.

Now for the list of issues the car has, given that it is 16 years old.

- Front bumper could be replaced, has some minor damage. It is urethane so no cracks, just flexed.

- Back bumper minor damage underneath vehicle. Not visible without looking underneath car.

- Cluster lights do not come on.

- Speedo gauge does not work properly.

- Heater does not work. Heater core needs to be replaced.

- Rear window needs to be re-tinted.

- Key mark on left, hood, and right side of car.

- Small dent on driver's door.

- Carpet in trunk could be redone.

- Could use a tune. Car runs fine, the idle sometimes is a bit low.

- Siren for alarm does not work. Alarm itself does work.

- Radio wiring needs to be checked as sound does not come out of speakers.

I'm doing my best to be upfront and honest about the condition of the vehicle. These, in my opinion, are mostly minor issues that I just don't have the time to work on. I have not had a chance to give the motor a good cleaning. Car has very good mods and is very fast but just sits in the garage. I have never dyno'd or taken it to the track, ever. NADA has the low value listed at $7,825. If you search for it you'll need to go to the classic section to find Saleen. I hope to find a good buyer that will have the time to fix these issues. If there are any questions or requests please feel free to ask. I can be contacted at 832-818-0792. Happy bidding!

Ford Escort testing, may be bound for Europe

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

There has been little news about Ford's China-focused Escort concept since debuting at last year's Shanghai Motor Show, but the no-frills sedan has shown its camouflaged face again during cold weather testing in Northern Sweden. While far from a guarantee, the test location might hint that the Blue Oval plans to market the car outside of Asia.
The Escort's black robe and zebra paint make it hard to tell if anything specific has changed about the design, but the shape of the sedan looks close to what was shown in Shanghai. Under the disguise, you can still make out the hexagonal front grille from the concept. When Ford announced the model, the company said that the design wasn't supposed to be "arrogant or pretentious," and it certainly achieved that. The engine range is still a mystery, but it seems safe to expect small, economy-focused powertrains.
A report from last year indicated that Ford may be considering broadening the new Escort beyond Asia and possibly even selling it in Europe. The fact that the company brought it to Sweden for testing could bolster that argument. A release date hasn't been set yet, but the automaker has promised 15 new products for China by 2015. The basic sedan could be on the road soon.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.

Ford bondage ads reportedly trigger firings at Indian ad agency

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

You will probably remember the ads for the Ford Figo hatchback in India, the ones that showcased the extra large boot of the little hatchback by joking that you can fit three of your enemies in the trunk. One of the ads had Michael Schumacher in the front seat, obviously pleased about having Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso tied up in the back. But the other two had Paris Hilton and ex-Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi up front and three bound and gagged women in the back - in Hilton's case (shown above), it was the Kardashians.
This did not go over well, and Reuters reports that certain employees at JWT India have been fired over the matter. It is also reported that the images weren't actual advertisements, nor were they part of an actual campaign; JWT said they "were never intended for paid publication, were never requested by our Ford client." A JWT rep said the employees who created the ads did so on their own, Ford commented to Automotive News that the ads were "part of a creative exercise intended to test concepts for an advertising competition."
The problem, if the story is to be believed, is that the employees skipped the regular review protocols and uploaded their work to an ad industry site - they were found on Ads of the World. That page, like the employees, has been removed.
