My Yellow Boss 351 is up for sale. This is one of the Boss 351's that was at Hershey this year. This is the very
nice restored car with LOTS of NOS stuff. The following is a list of some of the NOS stuff:
bumpers,
body decals
hood pins
door handle
weatherstripping (where do you find that these days)
front spoiler (yes NOS spoiler)
And more stuff.
This is a nicely optioned car (not super optioned) but it has the options that most people put on cars that didn't
have it. Take a look at the Marti report. It came with spoilers, and it came with Magnum 500. It still has
it's original Ford Magnums on it that are in great shape. Actually it still has lots of it's original parts
because they were in great shape. Also it came with essential power steering (I had one without PS and it was
tough steering unless you were just going straight for a 1/4 mile!)
It has original floors, doors, quarters....but it has NOS front fenders and hood. Has about 65k miles on it. Is
it flawless? No. The paint looks great (so everyone tells me) but the paint was never rubbed out so it still has
a little of that factory finish it had in 1971. But the NOS weatherstripping just makes the doors close
effortlessly.
This car was built to be beautiful and to truly have a Boss 351 feel. The original engine has been redone. Since
it was low mileage and everything mic'ed up well, it has the original pistons. It has a new cam ground to the
original specification. Heads were redone with harden seats, crank done, bearings.....The original carb was
rebuilt, as was the original distributor. Rebuilt water pump. Original intake and exhaust manifolds. The engine
is stock, stock, stock, just like it came. Yet, when we finished breaking in the motor on the dyno, it pulled
360HP! (I have the dyno sheet).

Ford recalling 205k Edge and Lincoln MKX units for possible corrosion

After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
The campaign covers 204,448 examples of the models in 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and some provinces of Canada. In total there are 186,024 vehicles in need of repair in the US and 18,424 in Canada.
According to Ford, it's possible for the area, "under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" to corrode. If this happens, there might be a gas smell in the vehicle or even a fuel leak could develop. In fact, the automaker reports that one fire could be related to the problem but no injuries or accidents are reported.

Ford posts decade-best $2.1B profit in Q1 2013

As predicted, Ford has reported that its first quarter of 2013 was a resounding success overall, with a pretax profit of $2.1 billion ($0.41 per share), and a net income of $1.6 billion ($0.40 per share). In fact, Ford made a pretax profit of some $2.4 billion in its home North American market, with that total number being pulled down by losses in South America and Europe. That gaudy North American profit is the strongest result by the automaker since 2000.
Ford's companywide profit for Q1 was down $147 million from one year ago, while the net income number marked an increase of $215 million year over year. Overall, this is Ford's 15th-consecutive profitable quarter.
The bad news from the European market was even worst in Q1 2013 than it was last year. Pretax losses of $462 million - on revenue of $6.7 billion - represented a year-over-year change of -$313 million. In South American, the company reported a loss of $218 million, down from a slim profit of $54 million in Q1 2012. The news was better for Ford Asia Pacific Africa, where a $6 million pretax profit in 2013 showed a year-over-year gain of some $101 million when compared to losses in 2012. NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe

According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
