1965 Mustang Fastback restored to driver status, original 289 missing, used 200 6 cyl driveline and floors taken from a California coupe welded in using factory locations, all panels original ford factory including rust free floors, doors, roof, rockers and fenders. Frame rails zero rust. Quarters were replaced with aftermarket at belt line. Vehicle had many dents in all panels except roof is perfect, removed dents and used 3M light weight body filler very sparingly to level (will block to dime thickness in dent areas when complete), Hood leading edge was rolled over and pointed down did repair but does have a lot of filler in it, will need more sanding/ shaping if you want to save or will need replace. Block sanded car (one time) and covered in PPG epoxy primer. Will need to be blocked and leveled again for paint. Quarter tops need more sanding. Doors open and close as they should, gaps better than most I see in car shows or calendars, Glass does have deep pitting and scratches, windshield is original Ford. Quarter vents disassembled/ cleaned/ lubed and reassembled, removed all lead from vehicle as it was cracked in areas, all exterior lamps working, all interior lamps working with exception to interior quarter lamps as no wiring. I do have nice original passenger door interior trim panel, drivers is a custom.

New: has new water pump, fuel pump, distributor, master and wheel cylinder, brake and fuel lines, Fuel tank and sending unit, high energy coil and Petronix ignition upgrade (Ihate points) , new front seal for trans, all new gaskets for engine but rear main seal, that does have a drip, new headliner, new gaskets for windshield, battery is 5 years old but kept on a trickle charger, reman carb purchased 3 years ago, was just cleaned out prior to posting ad. Runs great drive home, trailer or I will help load with shipper.

Needs: window adjustment or regulators ( tight operation), right axle seal has light leak, outer drip moldings missing, trap door missing, kick panels missing, carpet poor fit as only molded for trans tunnel not foot wells, seat covers front torn.

Great start for completion or drive as is (that is what I was going to do). Blank slate for Cobra motor and mustang II suspension etc... if that is your thing.

Please email with questions, I have attempted to describe the vehicle as best as I can. I HATE surprises when looking at vehicles and I know you do to, so if something is in question please ask. This is not a perfect car it will need work to get there, but again is a great start for a show car or completed driver in primer.

Have the original door tag that was heavily sandblasted and can be only clearly read from back side see photo, it matches clear Minnesota title in my name and inner fender stamped vin. Door tag is below:

Ford adding stop-start to all major model lines

Sun, 24 Nov 2013

Ford has gone all-in on its efforts to offer most of its new vehicles with a fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine, but the automaker is reportedly preparing to take another big step toward improving vehicle efficiency. Automotive News is reporting that Ford will soon expand the availability of start-stop technology, which was first offered - presumably the first non-hybrid vehicle, that is - on the 2013 Fusion (equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine) as a $295 option.
The benefit of start-stop is reduced fuel consumption as it shuts the engine off at long stops, and AN quotes Ford as saying that drivers can save more than $1,000 on fuel costs over five years. Despite this, the option hasn't been popular on the Fusion thus far, but it could be more beneficial on bigger vehicles like the F-150. Ford also said that the next-gen Edge, which was previewed in concept form at the LA Auto Show, will be equipped with auto start-stop to help make the EcoBoost engines even more efficient.

Crowdsource funding push on to save historic Ford buildings

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Detroit has no shortage of old, abandoned buildings, both within the city and in the surrounding communities. Few, though, have the historical significance of the old Ford Highland Park facility. Home to the very first moving assembly line, Highland Park was designed by the legendary Albert Kahn, and was one of the homes of the Model T.
Now, the Woodward Avenue Action Association is attempting to buy both the 40,000-square-foot admin building, which is located off the historic Woodward Avenue, and an 8,000-square-foot garage. The WAAA's goal is to convert the buildings into an automotive heritage center. The Detroit News spoke to the interim director of the WAAA, Deborah Schutt, who commented, "[Metro Detroit has] not been very good at telling our own story. So we've decided, let's pull everything together and tell our story."
The WAAA made an offer of $550,000 to buy the two buildings, and has $400,000 from the Michigan Department of Transportation and another $15,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. It's trying to raise a further $125,000 through crowd-sourcing, starting a campaign called "Five Dollars A Day," after old Hank Ford's $5-per-day wage for line workers.

Ford celebrating 80 years of Aussie utes as it prepares to shutter Oz manufacturing

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

Ford is ending Australian production after 90 years in 2016, and with it may go perhaps the most iconic vehicles in its auto market - the ute. Car-based pickup trucks like the Ford Ranchero and Chevrolet El Camino were always more of a curiosity than a true market force here, but in Australia, they have long proven hugely popular.
As the legend goes, Ford invented the niche after a farmer's wife had asked Ford Australia's managing director for a more utilitarian car. Her request was simple: "My husband and I can't afford a car and a truck but we need a car to go to church on Sunday and a truck to take the pigs to market on Monday. Can you help?"
Ford's design team came up with a two-passenger, enclosed, steel coupe body with glass windows and a steel-paneled, wooden-frame load area in the rear. The sides of the bed were blended into the body to make it look more unified, and to keep costs down, the front end and interior were based on the Ford Model 40 five-window coupe. Power came from a V8 with shifting chores handled by a three-speed manual. Within a year, the new vehicle was ready, and production began in 1934. Lead designer Lewis Bandt christened it the coupe-utility.
