The Mustang had been in storage since the early 1970's.
Although the car was in very good condition, it was dis-assembled in preparation for paint. I don't know
how long it was in this condition. It still had bias tires, which I still have, on the original styled steel rims.
When I got the car home, I found that it was in excellent condition. I did replace some parts like the carpet,
tires, and some of the small chrome pieces. The car started right up but needed the original carb rebuilt. I
replaced the gas tank and it has been a great runner ever since. The car was painted shortly after I got it and
had no rust. I did have the right rear quarter replaced at that time with one off a doner car. The quarter had
been damaged at some point and the body man felt that replacing it was the best option. It was painted in its
original Prairie Bronze. In the years since I have replaced the rims with a wider version although I have the
originals as well. Last year I replaced the door panels because the handle part on the drivers side was slightly
frayed. I have the originals. I recently had the carb rebuilt again. the car had 29,000 miles on it when I
purchased it and has 31,423. I believe this mileage to be original to the car but have nothing to document this.
The seat covers and headliner are original. I replaced the valve covers with aftermarket gold ones because the
original owner had painted the originals blue. You can see the gold paint on the originals. I will include the
originals as well as any other parts I have with the sale of this car. The car is missing a piece of trim that
goes around the back seat on the passenger side but other than that, I believe everything is all there.

This car came with the original GT package with the fog lights, duel exhaust, and other GT options. It has power
steering and disc brakes in the front. It has the gauge package but the clock is not working. It has the fold down
rear seat. Basically it has every option that was offered with an A code fastback in 1965. Everything is original
on this car and it runs fantastic.

Rarely does something this original and in this kind of condition become available. Don't let this car pass you
by.

Detroit automakers mulling helping DIA avoid bankruptcy looting

Tue, 13 May 2014

It's not really a secret that the city of Detroit is in lots and lots of trouble. Even with an emergency manager working to guide it through bankruptcy, a number of the city's institutions remain in very serious danger. One of the most notable is the Detroit Institute of Arts, a 658,000-square-foot behemoth of art that counts works from Van Gogh, Picasso, Gauguin and Rembrandt (not to mention a version of Rodin's iconic "The Thinker," shown above) as part of its permanent collection.
Throughout the bankruptcy, the DIA has been under threat, with art enthusiasts, historians and fans of the museum concerned that its expansive collection - valued between $454 and $867 million by Christie's - could be sold by the city to help square its $18.5-billion debt.
Now, though, Detroit's hometown automakers could be set to step up and help save the renowned museum. According to a report from The Detroit News, the charitable arms of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler could be set to donate $25 million as part of a DIA-initiated campaign, called the "grand bargain." As part of the deal, the DIA would seek $100 million in corporate donations as part of a larger attempt at putting together an $816-million package that would be paid to city pension funds over 20 years. Such a move would protect the city's art collection from being sold off.

2015 Ford Mustang production to begin on July 14? Not quite, says Ford

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Mustang6g.com believes that it has unlocked start date for 2015 Ford Mustang production citing a Ford dealer communiqué. According to the report, job one on the 2015 hardtop will allegedly start in just a few days, on July 14, although units that are known as "OK to Buy" won't enter production until September 9. The cars built between those dates are most likely final pre-production cars for the executive test fleet, and will likely include the cars we'll be driving at the media launch.
Sun worshippers, meanwhile, would seem to have a longer wait. Job one on the droptop supposedly isn't slated to start until September 14, with production models starting on October 27. As is the case with the hardtop, these final pre-pros are for the execs and media to test, while actual dealer orders will come from vehicles made after the October date.
After speaking to Ford, though, we wouldn't put a great deal of stock in those dates as reported. We reached out to Said Deep, Ford's North American Product Communications Manager.

2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty is class-leading once again

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Time for everyone to feign surprise - Ford has just announced that it has the increased horsepower and torque levels of its 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 engine for 2015. As you'd expect, the Blue Oval is claiming class-leading figures of 440 hp (up from 400) and 860 pound-feet (up from 800), and that's enough to enable Ford's F-450 Super Duty model to tow as much as 31,200 pounds, which, again, the automaker claims is class leading.
Now, it should be noted that the max rating quoted above is achieved with the Ford F-450. The 2015 F-350, which is perhaps a better comparison to the Ram 3500 HD pickup that claimed the towing crown in 2013 at an even 30,000 pounds, is capped at 26,500 pounds, either with a gooseneck or when towing a fifth-wheel trailer. In any case, it's going to take a load the size of Godzilla to make any of the current crop of fullsize heavy-duty pickup trucks break into a sweat. For those keeping track, Chevy rates its 2015 Silverado HD at a maximum of 23,200 pounds.
Ford's newfound pulling power comes courtesy of a larger turbocharger for its in-house Power Stroke engine, new fuel injector tips and, we'd assume, retuned computer controls. Besides the engine enhancements, the F-350 gets a wider front track for 2015 and new front springs, while the F-450 gains commercial-grade 19.5-inch wheels and tires, new rear U-joints, leaf springs, stabilizer bars and shocks. The steering and brake systems have also been upgraded.
