Dillehay Street is home to the "Hot Rod Hullabaloo" and its time to sell one of their favorite rides of all time. I have built several cars over the years and have had a lot of them in magazines but this Lil'Jewel has turned more heads and had more pictures taken than all of them put together. Most asked questions, "How do you get in it?" and "Do you drive it?" Well you open the door and slide in like a snake and a big YES to the second one. Out of state road trips are the most fun. Runs comfortable at 55-60 mph. Note to looker, if your over 6' and weigh over 225 lbs...... passenger yes, driver no. Fits me perfect at 5'6" 160 lbs. If your uncomfortable with your butt cheeks riding 2" off the pavement, this ain't the car for you, wimp. It has the feel of a street legal go-kart flying around town!

The front tires are Coker, the rear ones are original cool, they were found in an old gas station with the paper wrapping still around them. the wheels are vintage mags found in a junkyard. They were balanced and trued on the car! The drive train is from a donor 1946 ford truck (motor, tranny, driveshaft and rearend). The motor is one of the best running flathead around. It's pretty much stock, we installed new rings, the main bearings still had Ford stamped on them and looked really good. I added a brand new carb, Mallory Distributor, coil and a brand new power generator that makes it very responsive and reliable. The "Evans" aluminum Heads are very rare ( Earl "Pappy" Evans was one of the great post war flathead builders in Calf.) and perform nicely. Custom made aluminum radiator and gas tank to fit the unique style and frame. The top is army tent fabric with Dibond sewed in 4 sections that fold back or it can be removed. Believe it or not it sits pretty comfortable.

This is a very well built unique car that was built with integrity and diffidently not thrown together. the closer you look reveals the thought and engineering involved to get this car reliable and safe as possible (considering the design). I'm gonna let the pictures do most of the talking and you can call me with your questions.

You can view a short video of the "T" on our website, dillehaystreet.com.  Word is getting around it is for sale locally so I will remove this add if it sells before the auction is over. You can get a hold of me (Kirby) at 859-583-4051 Please only call if your interested in buying the car. If you have a general question please ask through ebay.

Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.
Scroll down for a press release about the Russian Explorer as well as a video (bad music and all) showing the SUV being produced in Tatarstan.

Ford announces first non-pursuit-rated police car ever

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Ford announced its first non-pursuit-rated Police Interceptor ever, based on the Taurus, which employs the smaller 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine in place of similar pursuit-rated Police Interceptors powered by naturally aspirated 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter V6s and the top-spec 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Officially called the Special Service Police sedan, the car was commissioned at the request of law-enforcement agencies that desire a more fuel-efficient vehicle for detectives, administrators and campus police, who don't necessarily need pursuit-rated vehicles.
The 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine produces 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, but more importantly, it allows the SSP sedan to achieve somewhere in the neighborhood of 22 miles per gallon city and 32 mpg highway, which are the civilian 2.0-liter Taurus' official EPA ratings. Ford estimates that the SSP sedan will get 20 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined, with the help of Active Grille Shutters that open to allow more cooling air through to the radiator, or close to optimize aerodynamics and fuel economy. Those numbers compare favorably to the discontinued Crown Victoria-based Interceptor's 14 mpg city and 21 mpg highway and the newer Taurus-based cars equipped with V6s, the most fuel efficient of which gets 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
If it was driven 90,000 miles over the course of three years, a 2.0-liter SSP sedan would save law enforcement agencies $5,042.92 versus the Crown Vic, Ford estimates. The EPA is expected to post official fuel-economy numbers for the SSP sedan in December. Until then, read the press release below for more information.

2015 F-150 launch to curb Ford profits?

Thu, 30 Jan 2014

Ford is making a big bet on aluminum with its new 2015 F-150, and it's possible that the decision will hurt the company financially, at least in the short term. After earning a record $8.6 billion in 2013, the Blue Oval does not expect to set another record in 2014. According to Automotive News, that's "largely attributable to F Series," says Bob Shanks, Ford's Chief Financial Officer.
To retool for the new F-150, Ford will idle its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan for 11 weeks and the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri for 2 weeks. "3 of the 13 overall weeks occur during what normally is our summer shutdown timeframe," said Mike Levine, Ford Trucks Communication Manager, in an email to Autoblog. The extra 10 weeks will be preparing for the more aluminum-intensive construction for the trucks and will mean over 2 months of no F-150s being made. For comparison's sake, Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne just confirmed that the 200 plant in Sterling Heights, MI will be down for 30 days to retool for the new model, but obviously there are many more F-150 production variables than for the midsize sedan.
Levine notes that Ford is already running three shifts at both plants, and says the automaker has plans to ensure that there is adequate supply of the full-size pickups during the retooling process. The company does not want to suffer a shortage of the vehicle that accounted for 31-percent of its 2013 US sales and an even bigger percentage of its profits.
