1931 FORD ROADSTER W/ RUMBLE SEAT
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL HOT ROD THAT WAS BUILT BY A RETIRED AIR CRAFT MECHANIC. THIS CAR WAS HIS BABY THAT HE DROVE UP UNTIL HIS HEALTH MADE HIM PART WITH HER. HE DEVOTED ALOT OF TIME AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL MAKING THIS LITTLE BEAUTY STAND TALL AND SEPERATE IT FROM ALL OF THE OTHER HOT RODS THAT WAS BUILT WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS. HE TOOK HIS ALL STEELE HENRY FORD BODY AND SIT IT ON TOP OF A 1932 FORD FRAME THAT WAS BOXED FOR STRENGTH. THEN HE ADDED A 1948 FLATHEAD FORD 59AB MOTOR THAT WAS BORED AND BALANCED. THEN HE ADDED A LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL AND STROMBERG 97 CARBERATORS, OFFENHAUSER HEADS AND INTAKE MANIFOLD , AND A MALLORY IGNITION. HE BACKED THAT MOTOR UP WITH A CHEVY 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND A 9? FORD POSITRACTION REAR END W/ 4:11 GEARS. HE THEN CUSTOMIZED A 12 GALLON FUEL TANK SO THAT HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AND HE OVERHAULED THE 1950?S INSTRUMENTS TO SET THE DASH OFF. THEN HE MADE ALL THE FINAL TOUCHES THAT ONLY A REAL OLD SCHOOLER FROM BACK IN THE DAY COULD PULL OFF TO MAKE THIS JUST AN OUTSTANDING HOT ROD!!! CHECK OUT THE PICTURES AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE, BUT IF YOU ARE WANTING A REAL HOT ROD WITH CHARACTER AND NASTALGIC ATTITUDE DONT WAST TIME LOOKING ANY FURTHER AND GIVE ME A CALL.

Leno drives Henry Ford II's all-original '52 Ferrari 212 Barchetta
Tue, 17 Jun 2014The story of the relationship between Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari is absolutely fascinating. The two great men of the auto industry had what appeared to be a burgeoning friendship until Ferrari pulled out of a deal to sell his company to Ford in the '60s. The latest car featured in Jay Leno's Garage is a 1952 Ferrari 212 Barchetta that tells the very beginnings of that story.
This Prancing Horse was a gift to Ford from Enzo when the two companies were first thinking about merging, according to the curator of the Petersen Automotive Museum. Ferrari really wanted to show off its best so instead of the 212's normal V12, this car was fitted with the larger 2.7-liter unit from a Ferrari 225. The car has been almost unaltered since then. It still wears its original paint, and it's tires date back to 1954.
The great thing about the Petersen is that unlike a lot of auto museums, the people there actually drive the cars and keep them in working order. Once on the road with Leno behind the wheel, this Ferrari really sings. Unfortunately, he can't open it up too much because the 60-year-old tires really hold things back. Scroll down to watch this amazing piece of automotive history and learn it's possible effect on the styling of the original Ford Thunderbird.
This is what a 3D-printed liquid metal Ford Torino looks like
Sat, 12 Oct 2013Artist Ioan Florea has encapsulated a 1971 Ford Torino with 3-D-printed liquid metal transferred onto the car using technology that he developed, and the result is a stunningly shiny, seamless design.
"The surface has the highest coefficient of reflectivity never achieved before," Florea told us in an e-mail, using "nano-materials and nano-pigments that create an internal three-dimensional structure and dictate the polymer how to behave." Sure... We'll leave it to him to make any more 3-D-printed liquid metal-transferred art pieces.
Florea grew up in Romania, and the motivation behind picking the old Ford as his canvas came from his childhood memories of what an American car is - "big and wide and fascinating," he says - and the European name of the car itself, which it shares with an Italian city.
2015 Ford Focus
Tue, 14 Oct 2014Sitting down at the pre-drive briefing with Ford engineers ahead of sampling the refreshed 2015 Focus, water bottles clinked as we wet our whistles before Q&A. While pouring a glass, we noticed something stamped on the bottle label: "1L." One liter. We were palming the exact displacement of the EcoBoost engine our group was about to drive. This was undoubtedly coincidence (such bottles litter every conference and dinner table in Europe) but it served to drive home just how small the total swept volume of Ford's wunderkind powerplant really is. It's tiny.
Of course, this isn't our first run-in with the little triple - we've sampled its turbocharged charms before in Ford's smaller Fiesta. At that time, we found it had plenty of poke for the subcompact, but the larger C-segment Focus carries around another 450 pounds or so and pushes a wider profile through the air. Would the three-cylinder have the stuffing to make the most of the Focus' athletic chassis, or would it be a letdown? Would it be the same as it was when we tested it in a Euro-spec Focus a couple of years ago? There was nothing left for it but to head out on the bucolic roads surrounding Versailles the day after the Paris Motor Show and find out for ourselves.
