  Conclusion

Up for bid is my 1930 Ford Model A Deluxe Town Sedan. I purchased this beautiful car from the same family that owned it since 1955. I knew the son who is now 62 years old and who’s father purchased this car for his wife as a second car in 1955. This car started life out just as you see it and was restored about six to seven years ago from a beautiful strait example as you will see from the pictures using all the original sheet metal from what I can tell and is just stunning throughout. I am sure I do not have to tell you how hard it is today to find cars like this but when you do and they are done like this is the results are just beautiful and will last a life time.

Let me begin that when this car was restored they did a complete body off the frame nut & bolt high quality restoration from bumper to bumper and all the mechanicals as well with less than two thousand miles since. This is a Murray factory body and still has the tag on the firewall. It is an early 1930 example and one of the first cars built in the year and was always a complete black car. The paint as you can see is just stunning in everyway anyplace you look with no cracking or spidering or shrinkage of any kind and the results are of AACA show quality level. The mileage of 79,736 we believe to be original since new in 1930 looking at notes and talking to the family. You can see that the brake & clutch pedals and little ware to them that would back this up and this was the reason I did not want to cover them with the add on rubber pedals, which by the way if the new buyer wants I will include a set with the car, just remind me. The fit on the entire body is of the very best I have seen and there is not a wave or sign of any body work to be found. I had the red pinstripe done as per judging and because of this being an early 30 car and all black it calls for Red Vermilion stripe as later in the year around September Ford went to Apple stripe. The interior in this car was also done to a very high correct level with over eight thousand spent just on the inside and has all the correct three sets of shades and pull straps along with the original rear interior light that came only on the deluxe town sedan. The top is the same level of quality and to be honest I don’t I have had anyone sit in the back, it’s that new. All the stainless is in great shape with no dings and the bumpers are all stainless rather than chrome plated and in my opinion much better even though they cost a lot more they are well worth it. The car comes with the moto-meter with the wings and has the running board step plates as well. The car is equiped with a 6-Volt alternator for better driving during evenings with the lights on. The underside right now is a little dusty and I took the pictures before I really did a good detail as I like to do but so far is coming out beautiful as there are not many miles on the restoration. The cars runs and shifts just beautiful as you can see & hear from the videos and all the glass and windows are perfect and everything is in top working order. The one thing that you should do is put a windshield wiper motor. The original was sent out to be restored and we never got it back. I will go through what I have and if I have one I will give it with the car. Just to add another note, there was directional signals installed and done properly with no ugly extra add on lights and work through the cowl lights and double tail lights and with cars today on modern roads I think it is a must for safety so long as they are done right like this.

Well I know I am going on here but this car is so special of an example that it will be very hard pressed to find and example like this for the money. I have priced this car low with a reserve under $ 20,000 and the reason I am mentioning this is to let you know its here to sell and you may never find a beautiful example like this car for the money. The last one I sold that I had owned sold for $ 4,000 to 5,000 more than the reserve I have here and this is better in some ways and the fact it was not passed to many owners and keep all original and not pieced together. Best of luck to all.

KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners

Sat, 30 Mar 2013

The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.

Ford S-Max Concept proves minivans aren't always minivans [w/video]

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Ford's latest don't-call-it-a-minivan is called the S-Max Concept, and it's a looker. As you can see, the conceptual overgrown hatch makes good use of Ford's latest design language, especially at the very front of the S-Max, which bears a striking resemblance to production models that include the Focus, C-Max and Fusion.
Powering the S-Max Concept is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and while Ford doesn't actually list power figures for the concept, previous estimates put the mill at 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet). Inside, there's room for seven passengers and at least some of their luggage.
As you'd expect, the S-Max is loaded up with all of Ford's latest infotainment technology, including Sync and MyFordTouch. More interestingly, there are also onboard heart and blood glucose monitors that we doubt will be seeing the light of production anytime soon. On that topic, don't expect to see any S-Max-shaped vehicles hitting the US market from Ford, either. Scroll down below for the press release, but not before checking out the high-res image gallery above.

Shelby Cobra, Mercedes 300SL and 1947 Woodie from Petersen Museum headed to auction

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

The changes happening at the Petersen Museum have been making the rounds in major press, but it probably won't be until August 18, during Pebble Beach, when we get the full story on what's happening; that's where and when museum reps plan on announcing the way forward for the SoCal institution. In the meantime, the museum is still reorganizing its collection, and that means auctioning some of its showpieces at this weekend's Auctions America event in Burbank.
Three of the stars are a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, one of less than 20 produced with a three-speed C-4 automatic transmission, a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300SL owned by actor Robert Stack and the last 1948 Ford Sportsman 'Woodie' ever produced. The Cobra, now restored to its original white exterior and red leather interior, was a factory demonstrator that first sold for $5,250. Showing just 38,950 miles on the odometer, its pre-sale estimate is $800,000 to $1 million.
The 300SL is actually a 1957 model but wasn't titled until Robert Stack took possession in 1960. The lead actor in the The Untouchables TV series used to drive by the Sunset Boulevard Mercedes dealership to ogle the car, but couldn't justify spending the money to buy it. When he and the producer of The Untouchables won Emmys for the show, the producer, who happened to be Desi Arnaz, bought the car for Stack. He owned it his whole life, it has been left as Stack drove it and still bears the California license plate "UNTCHBL."
