1928 Model A Ford Pickup on 2040-cars
Durango, Colorado, United States
1928 Ford Model A Closed Cab Pickup ( aka Telephone Booth) with
Willy’s Jeep 4X4 drive train. I bought
this as a project several years ago but have now realized I will never finish
it. The first picture is from when I
bought the truck. This truck is all original Henry Ford Steel except for the firewall
and lower cowl panels which were replaced because they had been cut with a
torch. I have removed the original gas
tank to make room under the dash. There
is NO rust on the body, fenders, doors, or bed.
The fenders are clean with no cracks, dents, or splits, as are the doors
and pickup bed. Running boards are rust
free. There are 2 interconnected fuel tanks installed over the rear axle. The engine is a 350 cu.in from a ’68 Camaro according to the
block casting #’s. Rebuild .30 over with a mild Pro Comp Street cam, camel hump heads with 1.94 Intake and
1.5 inch exhaust valves, Edelbrock intake, and 4 bbl. carb. Custom exhaust
manifolds. Transmission is a rebuilt T-90 3 speed. Transfer case is a rebuilt Dana T-18. Rear end is rebuilt with 3.73 gears. I have
the gear set to rebuild the front dif from stock Willys 5.38 to 3.73. New drive shafts front and rear. The pictures speak for themselves. There are lots of new, still in the box, parts
including Griffin radiator, Chrome radiator grill, wiring harness, VDO gauges,
seat, Ididit tilt steering column, custom steering wheel, new power brake /
clutch master cylinder set, New chrome alternator, electric fuel pump,
headlight halogen inserts, new tail lights, steel floor panels, 4 brand new tires, etc. All old parts were bagged and labeled. I’ve have over $20k in this project. Brought from California and showing a CA DMV Serial #. I have a clear Colorado title showing this truck registered
as a 1928 Ford Model A pickup. The reserve is well below my investment cost. Please don’t waste my time with low ball
offers. Thanks for looking.
Happy bidding. |

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
Truckmakers squabbling over who can sell Jimmy Fallon a pickup
Sat, 08 Mar 2014Snagging a celebrity endorsement is a big deal for automakers, as evidenced by the recent efforts of the Detroit Three to try and woo The Tonight Show's newest host, Jimmy Fallon, into one of their trucks.
After announcing during Wednesday night's show that he was in the market for a pickup truck, Fallon set off a firestorm of efforts on Twitter, with both Ford and Chevrolet petitioning the funnyman to test out a truck. According to Ad Age, Ford recommended the King Ranch edition of its next-generation F-150 while the show was still airing. Chevy, meanwhile, waited until the next morning to pitch a Silverado to Fallon.
The winner of this social media feeding frenzy, though, was Ram. Promoting a variation of its "Guts, Glory, Ram" tagline, the Auburn Hills-based manufacturer created the hashtag #GUTSGLORYFallon. It even went so far as to park a Ram 1500 outside 30 Rockefeller Center in New York, where The Tonight Show is filmed. On the back of the Ram sat a sign, reading "Big enough, Jimmy? Test it out," referencing a joke from the Wednesday show.
Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern
Fri, 09 Dec 2011Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.
