Very nice black interior, stereo etc. Of course as with many older cars there is a short list of issues remaining to be addressed:1. Gas gauge reads low, probably sender.2. Drivers power window regulator is worn and window needs "help" coming back up straight. Replacement regulators are elusive.3. Power window switch bezels are not installed, one or two are MIA and hard to find.4. Alternator belt is slipping5. Minor hesitation on throttle "tip in"..brand new carb, but it needs adjustment of accelerator pump rod and/or squirter size.6. No jack or spare tire.7. Small leaks in PS line, operating fine.8. Small leak at kickdown lever on transmission (kick down linkage removed for now)Cosmetically the pictures speak for themselves, but the paint is not that great. The previous painter was not good at metallic paint and there are minor flaws and very subtle "Zebra stripes" in the trunk lid."

I've had this car for a few years and really enjoyed it. My plan was to prepare it for a 10 day Route 66 trip that some of my "car guy" friends were planning. Well I got it ready and my buddies are dragging their feet going on the trip. The car is really BIG and it takes up two sports car's worth of space in my shop, so its gotta go.

I bought it locally from a man who's dream was to restore it. He had it painted and then passed away. It sat for years in a covered warehouse before I bought it from his estate.

During my ownership, I've redone the interior, rebuilt the engine, upgraded to a four barrel carb and RV Cam, added Flowmaster dual exhaust, new tires on aluminum torque thrust wheels, brakes, replaced suspension bushings, added bigger sway brand new shocks, new windshield (try to find one!)  I basically made it ready for a cross country trip. It is truly a wonderful car to drive. Nothing rides like these big old cars. At 75 mph on the freeway with the top down, you can converse easily and your hair hardly gets messed up.

Its great to drive, engine is very strong, it rides good and even though there are the minor issues outlined above, you could not duplicate this car for the buy it now price even if you did all the work yourself, There is no serious rust, the trunk is dry and there are only the tiniest pinholes in the rear floor pan.

When salvage metal got some valuable a few years ago, many of these cars were lost to the crushers and junk yards dont have them anymore. It makes parts hard to find, but it also means that nice ones like this will appreciate.

I am not trying for "show car" money, but I am not doing a "fire sale" either...a really fair deal is available here, bid on!

Here are some videos of the power top working and that awesome V8 sound:)

Woman trades 1914 Model T in for 2013 Corvette

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

We're sure that dealers must see all sorts of interesting trade ins, but this one may take the cake. Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City, Louisiana, recently had a customer come in with an odd request. Tina Boyter wanted to trade in three vehicles on a brand-new 2013 Chevy Corvette. Among the hardware was 1980 Corvette, a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado and a 1914 Ford Model T. While the '80 Corvette had been her personal car for years, the '78 Eldorado had belonged to Boyter's mother before she traded up to a Lincoln. The big Caddy had just 10,290 miles on the clock when it was traded in.
And the Model T? Boyter says the car was built as a racer by Ford, and that it had been a show winner for years when it belonged to her father. But, after spending the last 16 years in a museum with its fluids drained, Boyter decided it was time to shed some of the past. She walked into the dealer, laid eyes on a white 2LT Corvette with a red interior and offered to trade all three of the vehicles in on the sports car.
Why not wait for the C7? "I fell in love with that one when I walked in the door," She said. We can't fault her there.

Ford GT40 makes historic return to racing at Goodwood

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Is there a more iconic, American racecar than the Ford GT40? That may be a discussion for another day (although by all means, tell us how wrong we are in Comments), but this video of heaps of GT40s running in the Goodwood Revival races certainly has us thinking that Ford's Ferrari-killer might just be the best racer the Land Of The Free and Home Of The Brave has ever come up with.
That's completely ignoring the fact that the GT40 was largely developed by Brits using American money, but that's besides the point (there was also a rather brash Texan, who had a big role later in development). The resulting vehicle was dominant, besting the cars of Il Commendatore from 1966 to 1969, although it should be noted that Ford's GT40 was unable to beat Ferrari in its first two Le Mans outings in 1964 and 1965.
Those four years of dominance, which started with Ford sweeping the podium, were enough to establish the GT40's legend. And now, here we are almost 50 years later, celebrating the mid-engined monsters at Goodwood, in their first ever one-make race. Take a look below for the entire video.

Ford nets $5.7B in 2012, $1.6B in fourth quarter

Tue, 29 Jan 2013

Ford brought in $5.7 billion in net income during 2012, which is around $307 million less than one year prior. Even so, the automaker closed out 2012 with the highest pre-tax profit for a single quarter in nearly 10 years, earning $1.7 billion in the fourth quarter thanks largely to a higher-than-average truck mix in the US. That's a jump of $577 million over 2011. Likewise, that translated into fourth quarter income of $1.6 billion. All told, Ford set a full-year pre-tax profit record in 2012. But that doesn't necessarily mean everything is rosy in the land of the Blue Oval.
Like every other manufacturer, 2012 saw Ford get hammered in the European Union, where a deep economic recession continues to drive down consumer confidence. The automaker lost more than $700 million in Europe, and saw full revenue of $26.6 billion in 2012. That's a decline of $7.2 billion compared to last yea. Ford says the market for new vehicles in Europe has contracted to 13.5 million units, the lowest number in 17 years. You can read the full press release below for more information.
