1970 Galaxie 500 Spotroof on 2040-cars

Year:1970 Mileage:97131
Location:

This car has been restored inside and out and gets a lot of attention wherever it is. The engine is a 390 that was rebuilt prior to my owning this car.  It starts and run great. The front seal on the transmission leaks pretty bad so the transmission will need to be removed and the seal replaced (I would not drive it anywhere until this is fixed). Mileage listed is what is on the odometer, actual mileage is unknown.

The tires are like brand new with vintage Craiger SS rims. The rims are in great condition with one small rust spot on one of the rims.

The interior is in good condition and appears to be original. The dash has one small crack otherwise it is perfect. The heater/AC control might need to be looked at as it moves but is not very easy. This car has factory AC but the hose has a cut so it is not working.

The seats and carpet are in great shape and there is no sign of rust on the body. There are a couple of small imperfections on the paint however they are unnoticeable until you are washing and polishing the car. This is not a car that only looks great from a distance.

I have the original build sheet from Ford (see picture).

I have posted several pictures to try and show everything about the car and am trying to give you all the information up front so you know what you are getting. Overall this car is in great shape and other than the transmission it is ready to show off.

By bidding you are committing to purchase the car so don’t bid if you are not serious.

Watch this awesome R/C car chase scene made with cardboard and glue

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

It never ceases to amaze us how much video production talent you can find on YouTube, especially when considering movies like Battleship actually exist on the silver screen. It's even better, of course, when cars are involved, which is why we can't stop watching this car chase between a pair of radio controlled Ford Mustangs.
Racing through a detailed set built in the middle of a public street using just "cardboard, hot glue and spray paint," this video is possibly even greater than The Greatest R/C Car Chase Ever that we saw last year. With the exception of a fruit stand and/or a plate-glass window being carried across the street, this has all the makings of a classic cliché chase scene.
Scroll down to watch the scaled-down action ensue as well as the full-scale conclusion.

Jay Leno sees how the other half lives with CHP cop cars new and old

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Comedian Jay Leno is changing gears from driving fast cars to checking out some of the police cruisers that regularly chase down and dish out punishment to those fast cars. In this episode of Jay Leno's Garage, we get the lowdown on the modifications made to the Ford Explorer for the Interceptor package (which looks pretty tough in its California Highway Patrol livery).
The new Ford is cool, but cooler still are the pack of classic CHP cars that Jay has along for the episode. A 1982 Mustang, 1966 Dodge Polara, 1970 Mercury Monterey and 2000 Crown Victoria are all in the shop. Better still, Jay lays out an argument for ones of the classic cruisers as the best cop car of all time. Get your guesses in now, and then scroll down to watch and learn.

Ford debuts Fusion NASCAR racer that edges closer to stock [w/video]

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

The sixth-generation NASCAR Sprint Cup racecar, which will make its competition debut at the 2013 Daytona 500 this weekend, marks the closest thing to a "stock car" that the sport has seen in more than 20 years. No longer using just stickers to distinguish the different brands, the image above shows the lengths NASCAR and automakers went in order to create a racecar design that more closely resembles the individual cars they represent.
Ford, one of the more open and vocal OEMs regarding the Gen6 car's development, is giving us a closer look at its racing version of the Fusion with a pretty revealing side-by-side comparison with last years' racer (click above for an expanded view). Aside from the more realistic front end and production-like body lines, the overall shape, dimensions and proportions have also been designed to give the racecar a more stock appearance. Most of the new racer was designed by the Ford Design Center, which the automaker says was the first time it has been so involved in the design process since the 1960s. Of course, one area the Sprint Cup Fusion really differs from the production Fusion is its Ford Racing 5.8-liter V8 producing around 850 hp. Can you say Fusion SVT?
Scroll down for a quick video from Ford Racing showing a production Fusion morph into a Cup car.
