1969 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. 23,450 miles - Excellent condition all original and un-restored.  A classic muscle car.  1969 was the last year the Galaxie convertible was manufactured.  Only 6,910 were produced, and few survive.  I am the third owner and can provide the ownership history.  I bought the car 2 years ago when it had 17,500 miles on it. There is no rust. This car has always been stored indoors in climate controlled storage.  Owners have always been way over 40+ years of age.
Original numbers matching V-8 390 ci engine with automatic transmission. Does not consume or leak any oil
The electric top looks and operates perfectly like it was new. It is hard to believe it is 45 years old.  The removable cover has a small tear
Factory air conditioning is functional but is not charged up.  The heater and blowers work fine
The interior is all original and looks immaculate. People do not believe it is original.
Radio and all interior and exterior lights and signals work.  Cigarette lighter and clock do not have power, but I have not done troubleshooting
I replaced the wheel seals and the rear pinion gear seals due to evidence of leakage and a set of deteriorated control arm bushings
The body is rust free.  There is a golf ball size dent on the top of the right front fender from where I dropped a ladder on it.  Other than that the body is dent free.
The paint has a few scuffs and dings here and there. The chrome is all good except a blemish over the right exhaust pipe.
If the car was repainted and the rear bumper re-chromed, this car would win local shows.
The car starts and runs smooth and quiet, and drives smooth and steady as you would expect a car with this low mileage.
This is a rare example of a classic 60s era big block convertible in original unrusted condition.

Ford F-150 bumps Camry from top of Cars.com American Made Index

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

With July 4th just around the corner, what better time could there be for Cars.com to announce that the Ford F-150 is the Most American car of 2013? This may be especially true since it was the Toyota Camry, a car produced by a company based in Japan, that had held the top spot from 2009 to 2012.
Cars.com compiles its Most American list by considering the amount of parts each vehicle uses that come from America, where it's final assembly takes place and how many units per year are sold. "While the assembly point and domestic parts content of the F-150 didn't change from 2012-2013, vehicle sales are responsible for bumping the F-150 to the top spot," according to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com.
As far as automakers go (as opposed to individual models), Toyota retains the top spot it held in 2012, with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford and Honda (in that order) rounding out the list. The motivation behind this list each year, according to Olsen, is "to help car shoppers understand that 'American-Made' extends beyond just the Detroit three" and because "a study we conducted in 2012 indicated that 25 percent of shoppers surveyed preferred to buy American."

Ford wins second consecutive Engine of the Year with 1.0L EcoBoost [UPDATE]

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

For the second year in a row, Ford has taken top honors in International Engine of the Year voting. As was the case last year, it is Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine that earns the automaker the accolade, achieving the highest-ever accumulated score in the 15 years that the award has been handed out.
A panel of 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries are responsible for choosing the world's best engines, and this is only the third time an automaker has managed back-to-back victories. Voters were impressed by the "Baby EcoBoost" engine's power output - 123 horsepower between 1,400 and 4,500 rpm, 148 pound-feet of torque from 1,400 to 4,000 rpm - and its compact size; Ford has demonstrated that the package is small enough to fit in the overhead bin of a passenger airplane.
Currently, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost is offered in the European Fiesta, B-MAX, Focus, C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, and Ford plans to put the engine in the Transit Connect, Transit Courier, Tourneo Connect, Tourneo Courier, Mondeo and EcoSport in short order. In North America, the Fiesta will be the first vehicle to offer the 1.0L EcoBoost later this year.

Ford car-camo artist works his craft on Australia's new Falcon XR8

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Ford is among the kings of concealment when it comes to test cars. On one recent Mustang SVT mule, the automaker went to the extreme of putting baffles over the exhausts to hide how many there were. Sounds like a lot of work, right? In a new video, the Blue Oval has decided to take fans behind the scenes to show them what it takes to camouflage a prototype. In this case the subject was the recently unveiled 2014 Falcon XR8 for Australia.
Ford's prototype build coordinator Down Under has the very appropriate name of Neil Trickey, and it's his job to obfuscate the important bits of test cars to keep them out of spy shooters' camera lenses. Trickey calls his job a "dark art," and he shows off some of the tricks of his trade in the video. It turns out that the fabric we often see on mules is a type of lycra, but his team isn't above getting out a can of spray paint to conceal parts, too.
Scroll down to watch a video about a man who you probably wish could be a little worse at his job.
