1968 Ford Country Squire "Surf Wagon."  Numbers matching car with 302, FMX transmission, and 3.25 limited slip 9 inch.  3 owner car with 74000+ original miles.  I have this car titled in my name with 68372 miles.  This is a SURVIVOR car.  This car was bought new in Chicago, Illinois and before me and my wife bought it, it spent its last 25+ years in New Mexico.  This is the ultimate cruiser.  I added an Edelbrock intake and a Holley Carburator.  The plugs, wires, hoses, belts, brakes, exhaust, radiator, shocks, gauges, and tires have all been replaced within 5000 miles.  I would drive this car ANYWHERE.  We took it to Denver in October to purchase the Surf Boards and did not have any problems.  The spare tire has never been on the ground.  The body is RUST FREE and super straight.  The only not original panel is the hood which was replaced by the previous owner.  The interior is amazing and the only problems are a small crack in the dash and a small rip in the front seat on the driver side.  The hidden headlights work great and it runs like a top.  I have all the original paper work for this car including the build sheet.  I hate to sell it, but I want to redo my high school car and my wife says this is the only way!  If you have less than 5 feedback, contact me before biding, or your bid will be cancelled.  I reserve the right to end this auction early as I have the car for sale locally.  If you have any questions, please call me @ 605-490-1950.

Ford Escort is ready to focus on the Chinese market

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Ford officially revived the Escort name in China, showing of the new, four-door compact at the Beijing Motor Show. Painted in a stylish brown-bronze, the new sedan wears a number of global Ford styling cues while sharing its platform with the Ford Focus.
Power for the new model comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, although Ford doesn't specify just how much power is on offer, simply saying that the fuel economy of the new mill will be "outstanding." It's unclear what transmission will be distributing the engine's power, although based on the images we've seen, the Escort will definitely offer a two-pedal setup.
The layout of the cabin is fairly clean, although as we mentioned in our initial post on the new Escort, it's a decidedly sparser environment than we've grown use to in US-spec Fords of late. If anything, it's like a weird blend of current Ford switchgear with an overall look that reminds us of older Ford layouts. Still, it looks like a comfortable way of moving five people about without too much fuss. There's ample space both front and rear, and a rather spacious trunk.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.

Ford calling in 28k Edge crossovers over fuel line leak

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

A problem with the fuel line on certain examples of the Ford Edge has prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall. The issue revolves around the metal housing on the fuel line pulse damper, which was apparently improperly manufactured in the first place and is prone to crack in certain circumstances, leading to a fuel leak. And as we all know, a fuel leak is not a good thing.
The problem affects model year 2012 and 2013 Edge crossovers equipped with the 2.0-liter engine and manufactured between September 2, 2010 and April 25, 2013 - a total of 27,933 units. Although the Lincoln MKX is closely related to the Edge, since it isn't offered with the same engine (to which the problem is related), the recall does not include the premium-badged version. See the recall notice below for further details.
