WHEN THEY COULD NOT GET ONE FROM FORD, THEY DID THE NEXT BEST THING AND BUILT THEIR OWN! THIS CAR WAS ORDERED IN THE FACTORY COLORS YOU SEE WITH A V8 3-SPEED TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE CAR ARRIVED, THE FORD FACTORY CORRECT FIBERGLASS FRONT FENDERS, HOOD AND BOTH THE FRONT & REAR BUMPER'S WERE ADDED.(STILL HAS THE METAL TRUNK LID)THE SPARE TIRE WAS REMOVED. THE DRIVE TRAIN WAS PULLED AND A REAL 60'S DRAG MOTOR WAS ORDERED. THEY CHOSE A HOLMAN/MOODY PREPPED FORD 406 C.I. BIG BLOCK V8 TOPPED OFF WITH 3X2 BARREL CARBS.. A 4 SPEED WAS INSTALLED ALONG WITH THE 4-LINK STYLE REAR SUSPENSION. THE CAR WAS MAINLY USED FOR DRAG RACING MOST OF ITS LIFE. IT WAS KEEPED IN A GARAGE. THIS CAR HAS A FACTORY RADIO AND A HEATER UNLIKE A THUNDER BOLT CAR. IT HAS ALL IT'S ORIGINAL INTERIOR & THE MILES FOR THE CAR ARE CORRECT. Tanner Foust gets eponymous hotted-up Ford Focus ST from Cobb Tuning
Thu, 14 Mar 2013Racer and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust has partnered up with Cobb Tuning to create a special-edition Ford Focus ST. The limited-edition hatches will come packing a reflashed ECU, special intercooler, tweaked intake and freer-flowing exhaust for up to 20 percent more power than the stock creation. Cobb says that the changes should push the final dyno figure to above 300 horsepower. Buyers can also expect to find special carbon fiber aerodynamic bits on board along with a new grille, graphics and wheels. Cobb hasn't released pricing on this Tanner Foust Edition Ford Focus ST as of yet, but you can bet the whole kit won't be cheap.
Fortunately, the company will sell you bits and pieces from the overall package for your Ford, and word has it engineers are also whipping up a Foust Fiesta ST. Ford Fusion and Fusion Hybrid nab five-star ratings from NHTSA
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Ford's Fusion and Fusion Hybrid have both received the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The rating is a big upgrade for the Fusion, which was completely redesigned for 2013. The previous model fell one star short of the top rating, after scoring only three stars in the frontal crash test and four stars in the side crash test and rollover evaluations. The 2013 Fusion received four stars in side crash and rollover testing and a full five stars in the front crash test.
Test results for the 2013 Fusion and Fusion Hybrid were greatly improved at least in part due to Ford's Personal Safety System. The system utilizes smarter sensors to gather crash data and tailor the car's restraint systems to the occupants. Seatbelt usage and seat position are taken into account to ensure airbags deploy with less pressure for smaller drivers, more for larger drivers.
The 2013 Fusion twins also received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+ designation. Read the official press release below.
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
