1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500XL Fastback

This is a very nice looking 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL that is an "older garage restoration."The car has a 1969 Ford 429 4V Big Block Thunderjet Motor mounted to a rebuilt C6 with a stage 3 shift kit built for high performance. The Galaxie 500XL models were slightly different from the Galaxie 500 models. The XL stood for "eXtra Luxury"that included luxurious interior trim, console, and bucket seats for that "racing feel".

 The 1969 Ford 429 4V Thunderjet Engine w/ factory 360+ horsepower
- Low mileage motor that was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago
- Has stock 1969 429 crank, camshaft, valvesprings, and pistons
- It has the C9VE High Compression heads with Felpro 1018 head gaskets
- It has Clevite 77 performance rated bearings, new piston rings, gaskets, high flow water pump, Melling sp oil pump, Comp timing chain, Magnum roller rockers, Ford Racing M-6316-A460 Damper, and a Holley 750cfm Carb.
- The ignition has been upgraded to full MSD which includes the MSD distributor, coil and 6A ignition Box.

High Performance Ford C6 Transmission
- Professionally rebuilt ($1700+ receipt)
- Less than 1000 miles since rebuilt
- High Volume Pump
- Racing Master Rebuild Kit
- Low Drag / Wide Ratio Gears
-Has a transgo stage 3 shift kit
- Racing Servo
- 2200 Stall Performance Converter

The Engine and the Transmission function perfectly with no leaks. The car drives well and has manual steering and manual brakes with 4 wheel drums. The trim looks good, the bumpers are original and look acceptable, and single outlet chrome lake pipes were added to the vehicle. The frame is straight and in good condition. The body does have some filler in the lower quarter panels, the floors are solid, and the trunk had new sheet metal welded in years ago. There is a brand new set of 17X8 Cragar S/S's all the around the vehicle with new z rated BF Goodrich Tires on the rear. The rearend is a Ford 9 inch with a factory 3.25 gear.

There is a lot of new parts on the car such as a Tuff Stuff 100 Amp alternator, dual 40 series Flowmaster exhaust, wiring, radio, carpet, sound deadener on the floor,  door panels, door switchs, dash bezels, and a hood latch emblem. The car needs a 4 terminal single speed wiper switch and a right AIR vent cable.

All the dome and door lights work, and all the instrument lights light up like a Christmas tree at night. The fuel gauge works, the cooling gauge was disabled and switched over to a more accurate gauge, the oil pressure indicator light was switched over to a manual gauge, and a volt meter was added. The cooling system has a 160 thermostat, that holds near that temperature even on the hottest summer days.

This is not your typical Galaxie that you see every other day on Ebay. It has a streetrod look that gets attention wherever it goes, it has attitude and looks! You would have to ride in this vehicle to appreciate it, it has acceleration that puts you in the seat.  Due to the car's age, it is being sold "as is," it has been garage kept for the past 11 years, and in that time it has never seen any rain. I have taken it to smaller local car shows, and it always stands out from the other cars. I enjoyed owning this car and cruising around for fun, but unfortunately I have to sell this car to pay off college debt.

This car is for sale locally and may lead to this auction ending early!

 This car will drive anywhere!

Ford Transit production fires up, American Pickers among first takers

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

Not long ago, the History Channel showed a seemingly unending stream of World War II documentaries, but it made a switch a few years ago to include an increasing mix of 'reality' programming. American Pickers was one of the early attempts at this new formula, with cameras following hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz around the country in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as they tracked down collectibles and "rusty gold" for their Iowa shop, Antique Archeology. The show has since gone on to become one of the channel's most popular programs.
Starting in the new episode airing tonight, the affable hosts will swap their Benz for a 2015 Ford Transit, a nicely timed bit of marketing to coincide with the launch of the model's assembly at the Blue Oval's Kansas City Assembly Plant, which also kicks off this week. Ford is touting 2,000 new jobs created as part of its $1.1-billion investment in the plant.
No strangers to product placement, the guys from American Pickers say their switch away from the Sprinter is because they wanted to balance cargo capacity and fuel economy to make the most of their cross-country jaunts. They opted for the largest Transit available with a long wheelbase, extended body and high roof, giving them 487 cubic feet of cargo room. Hauling power comes from a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque and a six-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. Fittingly, the van wears the same Antique Archaeology logo over white paint as their old Sprinter.

How Ford made its 2015 Ford Mustang safer for toupee wearers [w/video]

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

Ford is ready to tell the story of its 2015 Mustang Convertible, the can't-miss bits being the easier, quicker and quieter roof operation, a more robust roof build for a coupe-like cabin noise, more trunk space, better visibility and reduced in-cabin buffeting. The top release system has been completely redesigned with a single, center-mounted latch on the windshield frame instead of the dual latches of before. The driver can now release the roof without having to lean over into the passenger space, after which the top goes down fully automatically with the press of a button. Ford doesn't say how long it takes to stow, but it's apparently done in half as much time as before, so figure around 8 seconds.
The roof uses a five-bow structure, with the fabric outer and full inner headliner sandwiching ten millimeters of insulation. Detailing work on the top has eliminated "unsightly folds" in the corners when the roof is up and made it more compact when down; its Z-fold assembly is 6.7 inches lower than before at its highest point when put down. Ford says the new electric drive internals make less noise when in operation, and the fully-finished droptop look is achieved with snap-in caps that flank the rear seating and stow in the trunk when not in use (the outgoing Mustang's top was higher and the front when folded and always looked like it was catching air and creating drag).
The compact roof and newly independent rear suspension setup in back means liberated trunk space, 11.4 cubic feet ready to swallow golf bags and tourist swag. You can read a lot more about it in the press release below, check it out in the short video of running footage and learn about the aerodynamic improvements made to the entire Mustang lineup that decrease drag and increase fuel economy.

This unique '64 Mustang was Edsel Ford II's first car

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

You probably had the same dream when you were a teenager. Your sixteenth birthday is coming up, or Christmas, or maybe both, and all you want is a muscle car to call your own. That dream has come true for some, and one of them was none other than Edsel Ford II.
Henry Ford's great grandson turned 16 on December 27, 1964 - two days after Christmas and eight months after the original Mustang went on sale. And that's just what was waiting for him in the driveway, courtesy of his father (and reigning chief executive) Henry Ford II.
The specially-prepared pony car had a pearlescent cream paintjob with narrow blue racing stripes, functional hood scoop, chrome trim, Euro-spec fender-mounted mirrors, a blue leather and aluminum interior, a monogrammed fuel cap... and a 289-cubic-inch V8 under the hood.
