UP FOR AUCTION IS A BEAUTIFUL 1971 FORD GALAXIE 500 WITH 31K ORIGINAL MILES. 351 WINDSOR V8 2BBL CARB. DRUM BRAKES. POWER STEERING. AM RADIO THAT WORKS GREAT. THE CAR IS BEAUTIFUL RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT AND SUPER CLEAN. FROM WHAT I COULD TELL IS MOSTLY ORIGINAL PAINT EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER FENDER BUT LOOKS GREAT. THE INTERIOR IS ALMOST ALL MINT EXCEPT FOR A SMALL HOLE IN THE HEADLINER AND SOME SLIGHT DISCOLORATION ON THE TOP OF THE DASH. THERE IS A ONE SMALL HOLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE ROCKER AS SEEN IN PICS. Leno talks racing with NASCAR racer Joey Logano
Wed, 02 Jul 2014Jay Leno has to be under significant pressure knowing the appetite his fans have for a new Jay Leno's Garage video every week. This time, Jay takes a break from his usual format (something he's been doing with some frequency as of late) and goes back to his roots as a talk show host. There's no classic in the garage his episode with an interesting story to tell and a sumptuous exhaust note. Instead, the focus is purely on interviewing 23-year-old NASCAR racer Joey Logano about what it's like to be a racecar driver in his Ford Fusion.
Logano started racing at the tender age of six and has risen up the circle-track ranks to the big show of the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The two of them talk about what it's like to compete in the sport today compared to yesteryear, and Logano shares some racing anecdotes. Of course, they also get into what it's like to be on the racetrack controlling a car with about 850 horsepower, a four-speed manual transmission and brakes without any power boost. Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.

Sticking with Ford but swapping keys, this time the drift champion and Top Gear USA host goes to the opposite end of the manufacturer's tuner garage and plucks a Fiesta ST for 'Ring duty.
The 179-horsepower front-wheel-driver acquits itself well by the end of the video. But be warned, Foust doesn't set a 'Ring time and it's shot like a commercial... because that's what it is. Still, you can enjoy all two minutes and 31 seconds of it below.
