1964 fairlane 500, 289 V8 4 speed toploader transmission. 4:11 positraction, polished american mags.I started restoration on this car in 2006 and worked on it as I had time. the original 260 was replaced with A 289, and the three speed was replaced with A 4 speed toploader transmission rebuilt by dan williams toploaders in north carolina, the 3:00 rear end was replaced with A 4:11 posi tract. I put 15 inch tires on the rear and 14 inch on the front, for the stance, and for the new gear. I replaced the complete front end, including new coil springs. I put brand new leaf springs on the rear, with traction bars.  I purchased bucket seats from A 64 fairlane sports coupe and the console. the whole interior was redone in original equipment interior from dennis carpenter. this has got to be the sharpest looking interior ford made that year.before putting in carpet I lined the floor board and doors with A rubberized heat and noise shield from jegs. then the interior was painted with candy apple red base coat, clear coat. then the outside was primered, and painted with the same base coat clear coat. I purchased A fiberglass hood from crites, and had it strengthened, for use with the stock hinges, and A light spring. I tried to make this car as original looking as possable, just like one that you would have ordered new in 1964, and the bubble hood for the nostalgia. even though the car has been finished for A few years, I have not put over two hundres miles on it. you can say just enough to work all the bugs out of it. I took it to the local ford dealer to have the front end alignment done, and it caused quite A stire. they ask me to leave it there as long as possable that day, because the customers and everyone else was coming in to look at it, and if I drive it anywhere, I just leave the windows down, so people can look inside all they want, and they all like to tell me about theire cars of the time. these cars really are A time capsule. because of my health I have decided to sell it, I hate having it just sit in the garage all the time, where no body can see it. I will try to cover everything with the photos. this car may not be perfect but it is just what I would have bought new from the showroom. I didnt buy my first new car until 1966, and it had all the bells and whistles too. the orginal 260 engine is is still here, incase any one would like to make A numbers matching car.  DO NOT LOOK AT THE DATE ON THE PICTURE. I DID NOT CHANGE THE DATE ON THE CAMERA, WHEN I CHARGED THE BATTERY SORRY i DID NOT WANT TO TAKE THEM OVER AGAIN

2015 Ford Mustang renders reveal look of the real thing

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

This is, according to the pony-car obsessed kids over at Mustang6G.com, the closest, most accurate rendering of the new, 2015 Ford Mustang to date. Artis Chazcron used a combination of Ford CAD images and information from assorted spy shots to assemble a fairly handsome car, albeit one that conforms to the tired cliché of being more evolutionary than revolutionary.
Now, it's very important to note that these are still speculative renders, and that they only represent the base car - that could explain the lack of the Mustang's vestigial side scoops, along with other, newer styling cues that Mustang6G seems to think will arrive on production models. Those items include a new, double-bubble roof, although the Mustang aficionados claim that even if it were present, it'd barely be visible from these angles.
The front end is pretty spot on, compared to what we've seen from earlier spy shots, while the tail, with its interesting light design is something new. The louvered taillights look quite different from the current version, obviously, though Mustang has gone the whimsical route with taillights before. Also, note the new rear diffuser uses an integrated reverse light and rear foglight, the latter of which is required for sale in Europe.

Introducing the 1965 Ford Mustang

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

Put on your space suits and diving bell helmets, for it's time to step into a time capsule. The 50th anniversary of a historic model, like, say, the Porsche 911 this year, is certain to bring flights of nostalgia. This historical trip with the 1965 Mustang, though - preliminary hype for next year's anniversary, we know - is a swell museum exhibit for anyone who enjoys bygone days of the automobile.
Lee Iaccoca gave a speech to motoring journalists on April 1, 1964 at the New York World's Fair to introduce a sporty car for younger drivers. His opening line: "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to one of the proudest moments of our lives." The company was so excited by what it had made that the Mustang was Ford's first "International Press Introduction," being introduced to some 2,000 journos around the world on the same day in the US and 11 European cities. Even through its difficult points, no one at the time could have known how well the Mustang would acquit that pride.
After the intro, the press drove Mustangs 750 miles from New York to Dearborn, MI, reading press kits that touted features like the "vertical, three-sectional taillights/turn signals," "170" six-cylinder engine with 101 horsepower and the available Cruise-O-Matic transmission.

Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.
